Just having some fun. Would love to hear your feedback! Heres my thoughts:

These moves are assuming a coaching change (which Im not necessarily fully advocating) but which I believe will happen. If Sutter is back, Then this lineup would be different - IMO no way Huberdeau and Kadri would both back. But assuming a coaching change,

My idea is to leverage value in players with expiring contracts after the 23-24 season now, avoiding the ongoing pattern of this franchise losing player to UFA getting nothing in return.

If Lindholm and Backlund are willing to stay, Id resign both. I love Toffoli, but his value is at an all time high IMO, and his contract is up after next year. He unfortuneately on the wrong side of 30 years old, and I think the team needs to get faster.

To address a few inevitable head scratchers:
Huberdeau: I didnt like the Alan walsh drama and theres no excuse for a 60 pt drop, but I also dont like that Sutter pushed for him on the right wing for so long (among other odd decisions) Bottom line... Huberdeaus value is at an all time low, youd be giving up pennies on the dollar if you entertained a trade - plus Huberdeaus historically bad year but proven track record IMO indicates a bounce back year in 2024.
Kadri: that chicago game will stain his image for me for a long time. Some of his attitudes reek of selfishness IMO. But hes centre, has shown to be a fierce competitor, and I just dont think theres a trade out there that would net the Flames any sort of good return given his age and contract. I hope he cares more in 2024 than he did in 2023.
Toffoli - Love him, and is a gamer. But hes on the wrong side of 30 yrsold. Strictly a leveraging move to score on his high value.

Also Id like to get Matthew Phillips back for another year and give him an actual fair shake in the NHL... but Im guessing hes probably gonna move on... i would too after an insulting 16ish min of ice time in the show over a few games before being sent back down to the minors... where hes been dominating btw
