Description
This is an unprecedented move. Goalies of Hellebuyck’s caliber rarely ever get moved, so it is very hard to figure out his value. And unfortunately, when these moves do actually occur, goalies tend to go for less than you might think. The package I made was loosely based on the Kuemper trade. As a reminder, this is just the basic layout of the trade just to get talks started. Obviously more will need to be added, but this is where you come in. How much more would need to be added to get the Jets to pull the trigger, assuming they go the retool/rebuild route.

Oh, and that one Winnipeg fan who shan’t be named (you know who you are) don’t even bother making a comment. Everyone already knows what you are going to say, and nobody really wants to hear it.

i dont think there is a fit. Winnipeg will understandably want a lot for a top 5 goalie. we wont re-sign him so the deal wont be worth it.

Also a tad optimistic that helle gets moved at the draft when he is the reason we made the playoffs. He's not a guy they should look to be moving especially with no goalie that could take over

I get that they wouldn’t want to move him, but they just barely squeaked into the playoffs because of him, and they are likely to at the very least retool starting either this off-season or next offseason, with the high likelihood of a bunch of player movement. I guess what I’m asking is, how likely is Helly to resign with the Jets? I mean, if Helly leaves, whether via trade or UFA, I would imagine the Jets are forced into a rebuild, if what you are saying about not having a goalie to take over is true. At least, unless the Jets are able to get a goalie to come to Winnipeg.

I mean, Helly very likely wouldn’t be resigned, especially with the likelihood of having a Koochie-Perets tandem in 2024-25. But would it not be worth it if the Canes end up winning the cup because of the Helly acquisition, that they could afford to let him walk? Much like what the Avs did with Kuemper. Cause as it stands, Freddie and Raanta are unlikely to be brought back, and after signing Perets, the likelihood the Canes look to get a goalie on a deal that expires at the end of the 2023-24 season is very high.

Sure if Helly could guarantee a cup but he can’t. We aren’t likely to have 2 100 point centers or other stuff Colorado (easier west road to the playoffs) either
