I don't see Montreal doing it, but you'd have the Jets talking if PLD won't re-sign in Winnipeg.

Montreal isn't offering 6th for PLD even after the lottery, I also don't think the Jets would be interested in quite this package. The Jets probably prefer to just resign PLD to his QO and make another run with him while they can. I know you weren't happy with my Horvat-PLD-Habs package earlier but I think it's probably the only type of scenario where PLD moves before FA. Everyone needs to get something out of the deal they can be happy with. I think if the Jets took the above trade to their fans with Wheeler, Scheifele, PLD and Hellebuyck all FA in 2 years the fans would be rightfully mad. Right now the Jets have a 2 year window, if they want to shut it early then they will trade PLD for futures if not they either keep him and sign his QO or they deal him in a multi team hockey trade that brings back a Horvat (extended) or Miller type of center and sends PLD to the Habs. Like I said everyone has to feel like they got a good deal, I honestly thought that Hovat ACGM was a good deal all around but my guess is the Jets Canucks rivalry clouded everyone's judgment lol.

Ah well, at least we had a good discussion about it. We may not agree, but that happens. It will be really interesting to see how it all turns out this summer.

TBH, I think worst case scenario is he is traded after the 2023 draft but before FA opens, best case is he resigns long term but most likely he signs for just 1 more year to keep the group together for 1 more run in 2024.
