Obviously he wasn't really put in a situation to succeed, but Dysin Mayo was not good at all last year. Certainly him being asked to do way too much is a factor, but he posted sub NHL level results in both zones.

The contract makes him a great asset for Arizona. Keep playing him in the top 4 for a season or two and he just automatically gets the label of "guy who can play 20 minutes a night", regardless of whether he's actually good or not. I don't forsee him becoming a bonafide top 4 guy, but I do forsee the Coyotes being able to get a good return for him somewhere down the road.
