Putting Nemec into the lineup this season would be a mistake, he should get at least one year of development in the minors.
Walsh could replace Nemec in the lineup as 3RHD if Severson is dealt however.

But if Severson is traded I fail to see why:
1) he should be swapped for another rental and
2) Devils are adding a 1st in what's believed to be as stacked a draft since 2003 and what's looking like an exceedingly affordable middle six forward in Zetterlund

Rather just do the Garland - Severson swap, suits both teams needs a lot better.

It doesn’t suit Vancouver better.Garland is one of Vans best wingers and plays the exact game we want Hoglander to play. Miller is someone who the team cannot afford to extend. A Miller for Severson + a first (protected) or something benefits us much better

Miller doesn't fit the Devils either for Severson AND a 1st. He's a 30+ winger that will get SOMEONE to sign him to a 6-7yr deal which would make no sense to the Devils based on their wings and having to pay many guys down the road.

Miller is 29 but yeah, neither Vancouver nor New Jersey are in a position to be signing big UFAs that are approaching 30

I am truly puzzled on a team that fits in that center of a venn diagram that has assets, cap room, desire to win right now (willing to deal with bad end of long contract years, AND a place Miller is willing to extend long term.
