i agree. we're at the floor and if pilut comes back, he and fitzgerald round out the 7/8 D spots. however, girgensons is an asset and needs to play to be showcased. he's the kind of guy that tampa usually trades for. someone will give us a significant asset (5th or better) for him as long as he stays healthy. and he's a guy who could potentially return to buffalo in the offseason to be a bottom 6 guy. i also have a hard time believing peterka won't stick on the roster. i think he needs to play with cozens as they're both going to be elite rush scorers with speed. i suggest mittelstadt with them as a savvy trailer and zone operator with an underrated shot. i like the VO/Krebs/Quinn combo and power with lyubushkin. i'd keep dahlin and samuelsson together and bryson with jokiharju is a legit 3rd pair. samuelsson and lyubushkin can be PK1 pair, which i believe needs to improve greatly for us to be in playoff contention.

They don't have room for Peterka. Which is good thing. He should be an injury call up.

I can't stand girgensons. Kid is bad, and can't stay on his two feet. He should have never been resigned in the first place imo.

i'm not going to disagree with you on girgensons. i think peterka isn't going to give them a choice. he's that good. quinn i could see starting down if they want to make him a center.

Let's celebrate that we added Lyubushkin and Comrie with out giving up any assets.
We do not know what Granato will do with the line up.
Remember back to the end of the 2020-2021 season how well it worked when he lined up Asplund-Mittelstadt-Thompson.
Who of us would have predicted Thompson at center would the end the season within earshot of 40 goals.

Buffalo ended the season 25 points out of the playoffs, but closed the season 16-9-3 for 35 pts in their last 28 games giving us all a spark of hope.

Last season the opening line up included Bjork, Caggiula, Eakin, Hagg, Miller and Pysyk.
Replacing them with Quinn, Tuch, Krebs, Power, Lyubushkin, and Fitzgerald will certainly make the team significantly better.
While they lack stars, they undoubtedly have depth.
Is that depth sufficient to close that 25 point gap?
Maybe, more likely one more year.

What we seem to all agree upon is that those 23 players will most likely start the season either on the ice or in the press box.
Let's all be happy that the team is making progress instead of standing still or regressing.
