This is all useless anyway because Unfortunately they are not gonna do the right things as based on the reports they are gonna keep the goalie situation screwed up. They already started off in the wrong direction by keeping Ruff. If Montreal takes Slaf they need to trade the pick but they won’t. They need to strengthen their winger depth and sign a solid goalie that can be a starter but also a back-up as I believe Blackwood getting a chance with no injuries and other issues he will have a strong year as people don’t realize for some reason that both years he has played badly he had big issues in 2020-2021 he had COVID the beginning of the season and he had lasting effects for the rest of the year and this past season he had his heel injury that they made him keep playing through constantly. He got little rest. The last time he was a starter and fully healthy he was great. But they will trade him and sign Campbell which is just terrible. They will take Shane wright which is a waste and they won’t improve the winger depth or the coaching situation. NJ is a team that has had the potential for a few years and still has it to be a great team but they have a clueless, inexperienced gm with no one experienced to help him not do dumb **** and they have owners who frankly just don’t care about the team. It is a shame the path the owners have taken this team on. Fitzgerald would probably make maybe even ok moves or better if they hired an experienced gm as President of hockey ops or a advisor to the gm. Lots of long-time devils fans are giving up and moving to new teams because they just can’t take how stupid the management and the owners ruining the team. Unfortunately most of the fans on Capfriendly think Fitz is a top tier gm and Ruff is a great coach and the owners are good but that is actually the minority of devils fans. So sad to see how this team has fallen from a great dynasty to a disgrace, laughing stock of the league year after year. That will continue unless they get new owners or the owners start doing something and hire a new gm. They will likely see the careers of Hischier, Hughes, Bratt, and their core guys progress during the never-ending rebuild until they want out because they can’t take it anymore.

Regarding what I am doing here: I am assuming that Montreal takes Slaf and therefore I am trading the pick. palat would be a great signing as he brings a lot of what they are looking for and he has cup experience. He would be a great player for their top 6 for a couple years Until they find someone else

This would be a great direction to go in to make a big move and a couple other moves but not spend all the cap space and also bring some youth up. A team like this would probably have the team progress a lot this year(or maybe not with Ruff as the coach)
