The more cracks at this, the more it seems a nearly impossible task to sign Fiala. Keeping him seems to require a whole bunch of actions that would be more likely to undo the fabric of the current team than simply harvesting some value in a trade for the budding superstar. The cap situation is the only reason to let him walk out the door, but it is just to difficult to pay him what it will take and still field a team when they’ll have 20ish percent less cap to use.
But even going the “trade Fiala”route led me to a whole series of transactions to get things in order.
