Description
This is only an idea, I don't think this is for the best I just think its an interesting experiment

***This does not go into free agency, that could obviously change things significantly with the leftover cap, not an opening night roster***

Can't wait to see how badly people view this because I know this will get some kickback, just not sure who from lol

Détails additionnels:
Comparable return: Viktor Arvidsson
SEA
  1. Ahcan, Jack [Droits de RFA]
  2. DeBrusk, Jake
Détails additionnels:
Seattle has Ryan Donato playing on Benier's wing, they could use a someone with a goalscorers touch, like DeBrusk, who has upped his value considerably, 2 2nds since he's having a better season than when Arvidsson was traded for a 2nd and a 3rd

Ahcan is capable of an playing a regular NHL role on a lesser team, I just included him to get him somewhere he can play regularly, he makes up the 5th

BOS

WSH
  1. Haula, Erik
Détails additionnels:
Haula has been solid at 2nd line centre with stud linemates, there seems to be no consistancy with the level of players who get a 2nd as a return, sometimes its Jeremy Lauzon, sometimes its Pavel Buchnevich

Washington is just a filler team, not sure where the best fit is
3.
BOS
  1. Choix de 2e ronde en 2023 (NJD)
  2. Choix de 4e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
Comparable return: Kuemper got a 1st after a worse season but on a much worse team, I don't think a 2nd and 4th is crazy when factoring in contract and the trade protection
NJD
  1. Ullmark, Linus
Détails additionnels:
Either the New Jersey or Edmonton, both teams need a goalie

Of course its depending on Ullmark waiving which I'm not convinced about

BOS

NYI
  1. Reilly, Mike
Détails additionnels:
I've seen both sides do this trade a lot so I'm rolling with it, Bruins get cap space and free up a logjam at 2nd/3rd pair LD and Isles get an very good analytical defenceman

  3. Zary, Connor
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2023 (CGY)
  5. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (CGY)
Détails additionnels:
Briuns take on Monahan for a 2nd to make the money work, very similar deal to the Leafs dumping Marleau to the canes, if the flames don't want this take out Monahan and the 2nd

Comparable return: Hagel to Tampa bay trade on steroids mixed with the Marleau trade to Carolina
CGY
  1. Marchand, Brad (2 625 000 $ retained)
  2. Nosek, Tomas
  3. Smith, Craig (1 550 000 $ retained)
Détails additionnels:
Marchand at 3.5 million for 3 years is an insane contract, he's going to be elite for the next 2 at least and he's going to be behind Gaudreau likely and pushing Mangiapane down to the 3rd line, thats a cup winning formula, if Hagel returns 2 1sts because of his contract Marchand is easily worth more

Smith is a solid, reliable and hard working middle 6 guy who can play up and down the lineup when he has to

Nosek is a good bottom 6 guy I think the flames would like too, versitile forward

I think replacing him will be the best option - they are still a very competitive team without him. Tanking wouldn't be the best option.

The problem is that top four on the back end is just too good to allow a tank.

i ask you this: is this team worse than anything Seattle, Arizona, or Chicago is putting on the ice next year?

I think it's more likely they finish 9/10 in the East and get stuck in that no man's land around the 12th pick where they need crazy luck to advance up the lottery.

Getting Marchand for 3.5 would be incredible for any team.

yup. That's why I don't like the Lindholm extension bc now they're just gonna be in limbo of being decent but not cup contenders for awhile when Bergeron and/or Marchand are gone unless they strike gold and find a 1C out of nowhere.
