Description
The Top 6 has been a weakness for San Jose this season and, while I don't think the Sharks will (nor should) be buyers this TDL window, I suspect they will be making upgrades in the offseason. Ideally, said wingers would have experience in putting pucks in the net and would play well with a playmaker like Eklund. It would also be great for them to be cost-controlled as well, especially if we look to re-sign Hertl ahead of free agency.

With this in mind, here are some targets (found in the LTIR list) that could make sense for the Sharks to pursue. Thoughts on what fair compensation for these guys would look like and how they'd fit into San Jose?
Transactions
1.
MTL
Experienced in the Pacific Division and a reliable 2nd-line winger who can put pucks in the net. His cap hit is also reasonable, and he would be out of contract when we'll be looking to give guys like Eklund or (potentially) Bordeleau and Wiesblatt a raise.
    2.
    SEA
The Kraken have 99 problems, but Eberle ain't one for them. Good balance of assists and goals, and has two All Star nods on his belt. His $5.5M cap hit means he's not the cheapest option of the bunch, but it's doable with a few trades and tweaks on the roster.
      3.
      PHI
Konecny has proven to be a reliable 40-60 point scorer in his time in the NHL. His production has slipped this season, but a change in environment and roles can help him rebound. Much like Eberle, his $5.5M cap hit is something to keep in mind and his younger age would mean he'd be looking for a raise if he steps up in SJ.
        4.
        TBL
Palat is one of the three Top 6 UFAs the Sharks should consider signing should they take the Free Agency route. Palat is a Swiss army knife player, and his 15 goals of 31 points mean he can finish plays as much as set them up. Two questions surround him: for one, how will he adjust to playing with inexperienced or lower quality linemates? And two, will he be willing to stay between $5M to $6M for his next contract?
          5.
          VGK
Vegas is in cap hell and with Eichel set to return to play, it's all but certain that Smith will be the first of the Misfits line to be given the heave-ho this offseason. I'm not going to lie, it would be very satisfying to see the Sharks poach a valuable (and reasonably-priced) Top 6 UFA from their most hated enemy. The main question is, how would Smith compare to the others on this list in terms of production and whether his playstyle fits well with younger counterparts coming into the main NHL roster.
            6.
            DAL
Last but most definitely not least is Pavs himself. As seen with both the Sharks and the Stars, he's a proven poacher, and the stellar season he is enjoying so far despite being 37 years of age is proof of this. He'd be the most willing of the choices available to accept a reasonable cap hit. The only question is whether he'd want to return to San Jose or if he'll continue looking for a ring. If it's the latter, the Sharks will have little chance, but Sharks fans (myself included) would love it to be the former.

Montreal is going to want way too much for Toffoli, I’d imagine the same with Seattle and Eberle with how little offense they have. I’d do labanc and maybe a mid rounder for Konecny nothing more though. The way to go for the sharks would be to sign a ufa like the last three on the list.

1st three are going to take overpayment which I would caution SJS from doing.

Makes sense given our current rebuilding situation. If we re-sign Hertl (say $8M for 6 years), Ferraro for 4x4, and want to save room for Meier when he's out of contract next season, it's likely we'd have between $4.5M to $6M to play with for a Top 6 Winger. Course, if Hertl decides to walk, then we'd have room for two wingers to play with Eklund and Cooch, but we may at that point also opt to just take draft picks and tank for Michkov. Really depends on what will happen this TDL re: Hertl, and I'll be eager to see what we do.

Palat either decides he wants to stay in Tampa cheap or gets 7+ on the open market especially in an extremely tax heavy state like California

Another potential option the Sharks have, although I’m not sure they would go for this, they could buy out EK65. Now before you get your knickers in a twist, let me explain. Most of EK65 contract is signing bonuses, and if he gets bought out this summer, when he has 5 years of term on his contract left, SJ would have to deal with the cap penalty for 10 years. But because his contract was structured so weirdly, while you get screwed in buyout year 1, 4, and 5, you get 8 million in cap savings in year 2 and 3. Meier is up for a new contract in year 2, and the same goes for Balcers, Weatherby, and JTV. Plus, with Kane gone, you have the 7 million off his cap hit to give towards a Hertl extension. The cap penalty for years 6-10 would be under 2mil, and with that being the likely time of true contention, it works out perfectly.
              https://www.capfriendly.com/buyout-calculator/erik-karlsson

Another option would be to buyout MEV, which would be cheaper, and if done in the summer when he only has 4 years remaining, it would last 8 years. Cap savings for buying out MEV would range from 2-5.5 million, with 5.5 happening in buyout year 2, and 3.3 happening only buyout year 1. The cap penalty in years 5-8 would be sub 2 million, so that’s also not too bad.
              https://www.capfriendly.com/buyout-calculator/marc-edouard-vlasic

I would think of the 2, they would choose to buyout MEV, but who knows.
