This is one of the many things that keep me up at night. Let’s not forget about Stecher as well. Tanev was literally the best defensive defencemen the team had and he’s still one of the top defensive defencemen in the league. Signing him to a 5 year deal would be worth it in my opinion. Stecher has shown so much of what he can do and is willing to play in any role he’s put in and play very well. Edler in a reduced role I feel would be really nice for him and the team altogether. Hamonic is okay I guess and I’ve been hearing Poolman hasn’t been bad as well. But I’d still prefer Tanev and Edler over Hamonic and Poolman 100%. They would really help out Vancouver’s overall defence 5 on 5 and the penalty kill. But there’s a reason why Vancouver’s defence has been so bad since last year. Replacements for Tanev and Stecher really haven’t been that great. I still can’t believe there was Canucks fans actually thinking letting go of Tanev was the best thing for the team at the time. It just never made sense to me.
