Description

The trend of trading away 1st round draft picks for change of scenery projects or salary cap certainty were the biggest flaws of Stan Bowman's team building efforts. Imagine if Jokiharju and Schmaltz were given more time to develop and gel with linemates over the past few seasons. Where would this team be now? There's not enough cap space to have Fleury, but there's plenty of cap space to get a more affordable veteran goalie. What are your thoughts? What else does this team need to contend for a Cup? Where would the Hawks goaltending be today if instead of trading the 27th pick to Dallas who drafted Jake Oettenger, the Hawks took Oettenger instead of Jokiharu?

Considering that Shea Weber mentored Seth Jones into the player he was when he was traded to CBJ from NSH, I see a nice connection there.

Not undoing the Seth Jones trade because it's still too fresh and it's not an "on the fence" move. It will either be a home run or a complete flop. A lot of critique came from the Hjalmarsson trade, but it doesn't look like a bad trade after you give it time to simmer. With that said, haven't bought a Jones jersey yet.
