My take on Hertl trade options

If another team already has an agreed extension with Hertl, I don't see anyway they can compete, being that Lysell would HAVE to be part of the trade in that scenario.

Consider this extremely unlikely, and its why I don't see Boston as a real landing spot for Hertl.

Hertl Retained

Barron and Helleson play RD, something SJ lacks behind Ryan Merkley, with Burns and Simek not likely being around much longer, SJ needs to plug that hole with good prospects.

Likely a small asset would need to be heading back to Colorado, any ideas?

This one is obvious, if Hertl agrees to an extension before being traded, this is probably what will happen.

Hertl 50% retained

Once again, a strong RD prospect who could play in the NHL sooner rather than later.

I think the difference between a 1st and a 2nd + Kushnutdinov is a fair enough upgrade for Hertl to come with an extension.

Chytil is a big risk, he could turn out to be a good 2C, but has struggled to consistently improve. This is the deal that pretty much has been agreed on a million times over the past year. If Chytil fails to make any meaningful improvements this year, I would say that Zach Jones would be included as well.

Schneider is a very good RD prospect, the obvious choice.

While Vegas and a Sharks trade sounds like a horrible idea, They each have what each other wants/needs. Vegas is in need of better centers, and having both of the magic Michigan duo of Brisson & Bordeleau would be really good for the sharks.

Difference between Hertl as a rental and with an extension would probably be a 1st (see Seth Jones trade), especially for a rival like Vegas.
