Why would Pettersson sign with Detroit? He said that he wants to go somewhere that has a chance of winning, that doesn't describe Detroit for the next 4 years.

That's a crappy trade for Detroit to be honest, taking a cap dump but giving two positive assets and one of their goalie prospects for a 2nd and a 7th seems like a bad deal for the Wings, the Oilers should make that trade.

Brattstrom has zero value anyways - and especially to Edmonton who has too many goalie in the minors as it is.

Unless the difference between Greiss and Koskinen for 1 year is a 2nd (I don't believe it is) than there's no point at all in this trade. I suppose Edmonton saves $100k but that's not worth a 2nd.
