I actually think this is very well thought out but you are going to need to shed cap because you are already over and you have no healthy scratches on your NHL roster.

Not only is this incorrect, its also not taking into fact that almost no team can add 6M in cap just like that. Either teams have no cap space or the teams that do aren't spending to the cap anyway and can't afford to add that much salary because the owner doesn't want to.

So whether Colorado likes it or not they have to take on some salary back. For their sake, they'd want something with only a year remaining. Hence why Plekanec is added to almost every trade offer. He replaces the hard minutes Duchene plays next year and then is gone. Heck they could even trade him at next years TDL for a pick.

Secondly, almost every report out there says a young roster dman, a top prospect and a 1st round pick. Adding McCarron is too much while adding Juulsen is not enough. They want Sergachev and we absolutely understand why. Its Sergachev or nothing and I absolutely agree with that as a Habs fan.

FMarco is correct. And that title "The minimum cost of Duchene." Really? Who knows what the cost is? You gotta think the Avs want to make the deal before August, Do they really want to have the same group together that has accomplished so much in the past few years?
