He must change his habits,just for a couple seasons,his core is extremely young,so it wont damage him long term.

Sakic could probably get them to sign for a little less(although it is their true value).Trades are not nonsensical,I'd target a guy like Kessel to replace Donskoi and Saad,you'd never get a scorer like him for that cheap in free agency,so it's worth to overpay a little. And to replace Kadri wouldn't hurt either.

Landeskog already rejected a 7x7 so hes not signing 7x5
And the trades are nonsensical. Avs trade Kadri and other future assets to get a 2C who really isnt really an upgrade. So they burn assets to at worse make a lateral move at 2C? That makes 0 Sense

and you already changed the roster by comments, if it isnt nonsensical then why are you changing things
