Because now he is a way to leverage PHI for additional assets; plus, they had no reason to want him at the time he was out on waivers, cause we were convinced Jones would stay.
I like this for CBJ; I think maybe one more prospect or player added to it for CBJ would seal the deal - maybe find a way to add Patrick or something.
We could take on JVR, since I imagine SEA isn’t going to take him out of charity.

why would the jackets want ghost when they could have had him on waivers?
I mean the Flyers aren't gonna just take 8 mil without sending money back the other way. 4.5 for 2 years for an inconsistent (and at times very bad) player, but the Jackets will be rebuilding for at least those 2 years anyway so it won't be a detriment and Ghost as far as cap dump for 4.5 2 years, isn't the worst case scenario. Theres a chance he can get back to being at least an average defenseman and help on the powerplay. If he continues to struggle then you get him off the roster in 2 years and open up cap space then. Ghost isn't the prize of the trade. The focus for CBJ would be obtaining Frost, Myers and the 1st. Ghost is honestly a detriment to the trade, but Jackets to get the best value for a player who wants out has to do the Flyers a solid as well on the cap end.
The Flyers will have to re-sign Jones. Jenner is a very good add on for the Flyers because he fills a role in the bottom 6 for them, and his contract expires when the Flyers will have a ton guys due to get paid. Only thing with him is they may still want him to lead the team given they hired their Head Coach within so they want to keep some aspects of this team the same.
I'd be willing to add another modest prospect, but I feel like it is fair value as is for the simple reason that the Flyers have to re-sign Jones to a bigger deal, plus its well known he's leaving regardless in a year so it hurts leverage in trade talks. But the Flyers will appreciate getting a great bottom 6 option in Jenner and the Jackets taking on Ghost (who has an additional year on his contract), which the Flyers can't afford moving forward in the future if they bring in Jones so I won't let a mid-ranked prospect ruin the trade.
