The Myers and Pearson buyouts are an eff you to Benning. I realized in doing so that Benning LEARNED and Pearson's contract is actually great to buyout. Myers is another story, it's great in 2022 but basically costs us $6 million in 2023-2024. UGH WHY.

The Juolevi trade is due to a log jam of meh on the back end. We could choose to look to improve the back end but for this exercise I assume that Bones and Woo form a great 3rd pair after another year of development. We still have Hammer as veteran insulation in case that doesn't pan out. We poach Schmidty's old partner from Sin City to make the old golden misfits top pairing our 2nd/3rd pairing.

The good stuff is the resulting $13 million in cap space available AFTER signing Boeser's RFA deal. That space is a ton of fun to mess around with. I end up going with someone Pettersson may have teamed up with at the 2022 Olympics in Filip Forsberg in the top 6 and Ryan Pulock, who, alongside a 23 year old Quinn Hughes, could make the most disgusting D partnership in the league.

That slides Jimothy Timothy down to what I believe is his rightful place on the 2nd line beside Bo. I think it's almost a surefire bet that one of Podz or Hogs will end up a viable top 6 player. I had a lot of fun making some crazy line combos.

The defense is obviously a question mark and it's dependent on some things going well. I assume that if things don't go well for the guys I chose to keep we make different decisions.

The other question mark is in goal. Not with Demko, who has a very real possibility of winning a Vezina if he keeps trending upwards. We depend on Silovs taking that step to become a backup as a 22 year old. Not impossible, but risky for sure. We can shuffle things around and bring in a veteran backup if that's what you'd rather do.
