Hellloooo hockey fans!!! As you all know,the league doesn't care about its stars, even less so when it comes to the playoffs when the rule book is literally thrown out. The playoffs are anything goes, clutch n grab, obstruct, trip, slash, it doesn't matter. The only thing egregious enough to warrant punishment is the cheaters who are caught in the horrific puck over glass infraction.
Rather than being accountable and potentially embarrassing themselves, NHL refs are afraid to do their actual jobs when it really matters, so the league becomes a sham; might as well be WWE refs out there.
Integrity doesn't exist amongst NHL officials, it's all about CYA, so they become more important than the reason they are employed.
Good for them, but bad for business, but who cares if the young stars get hacked and whacked with impunity. This isn't hockey, it's war! You gotta be tough to win the cup, blocking 90 mph shots with your face simply isn't enough, you need to take 50 punches to the back of your head, slashes and spears to your arms and legs and cross-checks to your ribs and neck to really earn it.
It is goon-land out there and only the tough will survive, so take your skill and speed and shove it. Fans want pools of blood, missing teeth, fluke deflections and broken bones. The 1970's Flyers would be 10x champions by now.
In reality the dinosaurs - all those 60 & 70 year old out-of-touch white guys who make all the league decisions want exactly this, and that's so great!
This team is stocked with huge and battle-tested warriors. There is zero doubt that these guys will win every series with grind it out, rock 'em, sock' em old timey hockey and Bobby Clarke smiles for everyone!
