At this point, why do the Wild need to do anything that will cost them more than a third round pick? They have arguably the best d-core in hockey, and no holes in the top 6. Maybe they can add a guy like PA Parenteau or Radim Vrbata, but given how well the team has played, I wouldn't do anything crazy. Even though Boudreau has a horrible track record in the postseason, you can't overpay for a player like that, it puts on way too much pressure. Give Boudreau a year or two, then do something major at the deadline. But not year 1.

Any piece that would cost a 3rd or less adds nothing to this team. Adding a wing would just be repeating the same mistakes of previous TDLs (see Moulson, Bergenheim). I agree with your assessment of the D and top-6. That's why they should buy this year. With expansion, this team is going to lose a key defender or top 6 forward. Add in the cap situation and a some key RFAs (Granlund, Nino, Haula) needing big raises next year, the Wild could easily lose one of each. The Western Conf appears to be the weakest its been in years. Adding a 3C of Fisher's caliber would allow Haula to slide to 4C and give Boudreau a significant advantage in the position they've been lacking the most the last four years. If a deep run costs the Wild a 1st, so be it.
