Everyone understands getting depth at the deadline is clear. These are all lateral moves that cost future assets. Any injuries happen and we are in bad shape. Why are we moving out 3 players? If you want to add 2 of these guys (no need to do more) then add them but keep what we have.
This still means Marincin is in the lineup if Muzzin gets hurt. I'd rather have a better option.
I was just going to post that point as well. Giving up roster players for roster players is not improving, it's lateral.
James Mirtle stated that:
- Foligno with CLB retaining is worth a 2nd round pick and middling prospect - 2nd Pick 2021 + Der-Arguchintsev, Semyon
- Laughton is worth 3rd round pick and depth prospect - 3rd pick 2021 + whoever
- Kulikov is worth a late round pick and Oleksiak would be better option - 3rd 2022 with Dallas retaining
Get one of the 3 teams willing to retain for picks or assets (Leafs retained $2,500,000 for a 5th pick last year with Lehner) - 5th Pick 2021
Leafs add Foligno, Laughton and Oleksiak for around $3,500,000 and lose no roster players. With Andersen battling a vague, mystery injury it is even easier to accomplish
BTW
@NazemKadri43 , those are the 3 I want as well
