Description

If Anders Lee is out longterm (which looks likely) he'll have to go on LTIR and the Isles will initially look in house to options (MDC, Bellows, and *shudder* Komarov) but they'll likely look at outside options.

This is the go-for-broke option, "in case of emergency, break glass." Forsberg would be the #1 choice, but there are few teams that can really go after him. And with the way the flat cap is structured, Nashville will have to take money back in order to make it work. They get 3 prospects and a 1st round pick in the process.

Poile will not trade forsberg unless it’s a massive overpay and this isn’t close to that. Forsberg is only 26 years old and could be a key piece helping to develop the younger kids about to come up. Tolvanen has already benefited playing with him already.

Predators aren't going to keep him when he hits UFA after next season. Few teams now and later will have the ability to trade for him. Nashville doesn't have a lot of internal $$ to spend. Move him out, get prospects now for him, and then buy out Ladd later on.

Yeah, he's going to be on the market, as will a lot of the other UFA/close to UFA guys. They're not going to want to tread the waters of mediocrity especially with some of the pricier contracts that are harder to move. Trading Forsberg now will get them to relevancy faster later.
