Description
Pretty sure the Isles are going to put Ladd on LTIR. Robidas Island strikes again!

Kesler makes a lot of money to not play- more than twice what Boychuk is making. Throw in some draft picks to sweeten the deal, and I think it's doable. Might not even need the picks. This gives the Isles breathing room to sign their RFAs and UFAs.

Barzal's (last) RFA contract is in line with what other players have gotten, and probably at the high end of that list. Pulock is really good but I think that cap hit and term is good (although negotiable).

I'm of two minds about Athanasiou; He's got talent but he's also got holes in his game. I'd give him a shot on sheltered 3rd line minutes. Signing Hoffman would be nice- it'd push the Isles RWs down and give them real depth across the board. I have him at 2 years, just for his own insurance's sake.

Oh, and before anyone asks, I expect some of their AHL talent to make it up to the majors, but I don't have any major aspirations for them. Bellows, Wahlstrom, and Koivula aren't ready. Ho-Sang and Aho might be, but just so.

Wahlstrom was the 2nd best offensive forward on the isles during his 9 games and he was above average defensively. At some point this organization has to put their prospects in a position to succeed and not bury them in the minors with Brent Thompson until they’re 24 YO.

I'm starting to think Ladd goes to LTIR as well, I think we're desperate enough and they'll be able to "make something up." Or maybe he'll have an actually nagging injury, who knows.

I'd rather not trade more assets than we have to, so if we can comfortably sign Barzal and Pulock with the Ladd money (pretty likely) and also find a taker for Boychuk, I'd stop there and then bring in one of AA, Duclair or Hoffman, not two. I've been pretty vocal about my disinterest in Hoffman, but having him for a year or two wouldn't be the end of the world, he still would be a spark to the PP and probably be a little better offensively next to Nelson or Barzal. I'm more interested in Duclair or AA, they can probably provide better value and you don't have to worry about them regressing due to age. I'd rather just sign one of them and then pocket the cap space for next year.

I'm convinced we're going to make a big run at Hall next offseason

So you'd say no to two prospects and a 2nd because you don't want to part with a third? C'mon.

Wahlstrom's not ready- I'd give him more time in the AHL (or overseas) and work on his overall game. That being said, he's a midseason callup if there's an injury.
