Unfortunately for the Devils, Kempe's great contract and the King's seeing him as an asset they will likely protect for the Seattle draft the price might be steeper than this. After being improperly used as a center in previous seasons he has gained McLellan's trust since being deployed for more minutes which has resulted in more points indicating we have not yet seen his ceiling. I think the Kings would ask for Kuokkanen or Foote and a third, and I fully expect the Devils to decline and look elsewhere for a budget winger for their top 9.

thanks for the measured response. I think all of what you said sounds quite reasonable.

I would go so far as to say that Kempe is not available. The Kings are very high on him and view him as a key part of the rebuild. Their LW depth is awful as well, and there's no one that is able to take his spot if he were traded. Sure, he could be had if someone significantly overpays, but there's no reasonable return value that I could post here that would entice the Kings to trade Kempe.
