Description
Something here that NYI fanbase could clarify, every post where a Barzal offersheet's made we see "Instantly matched" by one of y'all, yet on most of your "Easy, peezy, no CBO, no cap issue in NY" AGMs you sign Barzal to contracts averaging 6-9M$. I don't think the fans understand that's the team's in a tight situation there so **Let's play a game**!

We obviously have to sign the basic/most signed RFAs to normal contracts, those numbers are what I've seen on different post made by different guys.
*You can refuse to sign them (Or trade signing rights) but you can't sign them to a cheaper extension than what's listed here.*
-Toews; 4x4M$ (Seen offers going up to 4.75M$ but 4M$ seems like the average)
-Aho; 2x825000$ (League minimum-ish)
-Sorotkin; Max ELC at 925000$ for three years or less but we don't mind about that (Could get more money through performance bonuses but cap hit should be at 925)
-Pullock; 6x6M$ (Or more years with a lot more money attached to it so let's take the cheaper option here.)

-If an OS is made we know it's coming with -at least- Aho's money attached to it so Barzal's contract is 5x10.5M$

We need to take into account NTC/NMC from players that are mostly shipped anywhere for anything. Rumours says that most players have the 7 Canadian teams on their clause and usually the bad teams (Low odds to win a cup), on the other side most enjoy the sunny/hot places, tax-free states (Dallas, Vegas, Florida and TB) and from time to time their place of birth or staying close to the area they're playing at the moment. Here are the team's available to send your bad contracts (Mix of what's previously stated);
-Boychuk- Tampa, Florida, Vegas, Philly, Jersey, Dallas, Nashville and Carolina. (8 team list)
-Ladd- Vancouver, LA, Anaheim, Vegas, Arizona, Dallas, Colorado, TB, Florida, St-Louis, Carolina, Columbus, Chicago, New Jersey, Philly, Boston. (15 NTC)
-Komarov- All canadian teams are off the books (7 NTC, easier to say who can't get him)

-Please keep the trades realistic.

At the end of your try tell us if you'd rather bring your AGM to life or lose Barzal, take the picks (2x1, 2, 3 or 4x1) and keep your assets.
Now let's see what you're coming up with.

There's a lot to discuss here:

- Toews should get $4M or so but on a six-year deal. Look at what Rasmus Andersson and Marcus Pettersson got. Toews is absolutely in their tier,
- Sorokin can only sign a one-year ELC. The hope is that he signs for cheap in 2020-21, but it's hard to know given the league change. He could sign a KHL contract with an NHL contract, he could end up signing in 2019-20 and getting a regular 2020-21 contract, we just don't know yet.
- Pulock would absolutely not take that contract. He already took his bridge deal at two-years, $2M/year. He should be getting an eight-year deal for nothing less than $6M (and no more than $7M). Pulock is very clearly a top-pairing defenseman at this point and should be paid as such. I like to think he's on par with Justin Faulk, who just signed a seven-year deal at a $6.5M cap hit.

Your Barzal comments are strange. Of course, he can sign an offer sheet (I doubt he would), and of course, the Isles will match. There's almost no chance they don't because a team isn't going to be desparate enough to sign him to a McDavid like contract AND give up four 1st round picks. If he gets an offer sheet, it'll probably be around what Sebastian Aho got. He also could very well sign a contract that's around $6M if he takes a bridge deal with a high QO, which he'd be very smart to do. Here are all the players that signed bridge deals and is serving them and their teams very well:

- Brayden Point
- Matthew Tkachuk
- Timo Meier
- Brock Boeser
- Charlie McAvoy
- Patrik Laine

In terms of your trade ideas, some of the popular ones I've seen on here are:

- Leddy and Komarov to LAK for Danny Brickley and a 4th round pick.
- Ladd for Kyle Okposo or Ladd, Bellows, and a 3rd for Zach Parise
- Boychuk+ to NJD for cap relief

I can see Boychuk wanting to go to a Western Canadian team, but other than that he really doesn't have a ton of value and will probably end up staying.

The idea of your game seems fine but your specifics are off and making them a bit unrealistic. The situation is a bit tougher than you portray.

First I'd say to use the Evolving Wild contract predictions for your basis. They're pretty much always right. That means:

Pulock: 1 yr = 5.28 mil. 2 yr = 5.82 mil. 3 yr = 5.84 mil. 4 yr = 5.73 mil. 5 yr = 6.45 mil. 6 yr = 6.56 mil. 7 yr = 6.79 mil. 8 yr = 7.35 mil
Toews: 1 yr = 3.46 mil. 2 yr = 3.89 mil. 3 yr = 4.32 mil. 4 yr = 4.76 mil. 5 yr = 5.21 mil. 6 yr = 5.52 mil. 7 yr = 5.38 mil. 8 yr = 6.00 mil

In terms of realism, let use the Marleau equivalent: 6 mil in cap space for 1 year costs 1 1st rounder or equivalent (note the only u23 players that have full 1st round value are Wahlstrom, Dobson and Beauvillier - Bellows is borderline - ....guys like Wilde/Koivula/etc do not, though they can be used in combination to = 1 1st).

For every 1 mil under 6 that conversion goes down 1 round.

So someone like Ladd at 5.5 mil would cost 3* late 1sts -> early 2nds to get rid of or equivalent.

Trading Boychuk would cost 2 1sts or equivalent (1 for each year of his contract)
Komorov would cost 2 4ths or equivalent.

And given that Leddy has been a replacement level player the past 2 years, you can probably use a similar conversion with him, though perhaps dial it back a touch.

You get the idea.

You get the idea. 2

1. Everytime I try to take Marleau as an example people complain that's it's a bad example because it's a poor trade and they didn't know the pick was this (Which I don't agree on). I like that you're taking it into account.
2. No. Maybe because I'm at work and not fully concentrated on your explanations but you've lost me, that's on me for not understanding your very good examples.

The answer I'm looking for is basically, would you match an offersheet giving you back picks 2x1, 2, 3 and send away assets (Like you've mentionned 1st and top prospects) to fit under cap or you're just taking the picks? Are you a better team with Barzal but without Beauvillier, Wilde and your 2021 1st or you're better with your assets and extra picks? Obviously it's a business decision to see if you're going into a retool or not.

Barzal taking a bridge deal, maybe yes but the challenge's about the offersheet that everyone state will be matched instantly.
PS: I fixed Pullock's money to 6x6, a little on the cheap side but it'll do the thing. Thanks for you input!

Thank you @ForsbergForVezina for the 6x6, please fix your rule book.
