Description
Wasn't sure what to do with the Domi and Burakovsky contracts, kind of went in the middle of some things I've seen. Gonna be very reliant on Cole's money coming off and Bowers/Newhook ELCs to resign Makar, Landeskog, and Grubauer next year, but top 6 is set for years with Newhook taking Kadri's spot in two years. In this scenario it's much more likely they start Timmins in the AHL and resign a Barberio/Connauton or someone cheap like that to be a 7th D, but I really like Timmins so just wanted to give him a shot.

We dont need Jost, we could use a physical Dman like Zadarov but not at this price. The 1st is really not intersting, COL already is a great team and will become a firepower in the NHL, this pick will be like 25th. Even if the habs draft the right player, he would be ready in 2024-2025... If Domi is traded, its for immediate help or a soon to be ready very good prospect.

What’s weird is I agree with you and disagree. From MTL pt of view it definitely seems like a quantity over quality trade. However I think Jost is a guy that blossoms given a regular shot at the top 6, I just don’t think MTL is that team with what they have in their system. From an Avs pt of view I think Domi is a little overrated. Yeah he had a 70pt season but he also had a career high shooting percentage that year and his next highest pt total is 54 where he had his 2nd highest shooting percentage ever, also for the Avs he isn’t getting PP1 minutes so how does that affect his production. Ultimately I think this is a trade better off not made.

As for the other items I don’t think Saegon ever gets an ELC, Burzan isn’t likely to get it this yr either. AJ Greer and Kamenev are almost assuredly gone, their time with the organization has run its course and they both want realistic shots at making NHL full time rosters and that isn’t happening in Colorado.

I do love the idea of both Timmins and Byram in the starting rotation, I just don’t think the Avs will do it.

I think as a habs fan, I may be overvaluing him. BUT (and I dont say its absolutly COL because I dont know the system enough and the general state of mind of the team), I think Domi can easily repeat the great season he had with talented linemates and especially if he doesnt have the pressure to lead the offense. In his case, I really think its a matter of maturity, but not the wrong one about partying, take in it loose and everything but about controlling his emotions and understand he doesnt have to do it alone. Wich is why a team with superstars like Mack and Rantanen could be very benefic.

I maybe getting ahead of myself but my point is, Domi is maybe a 50-60 pts winger but he still have room to grow a little and he should not be dealt for quantity but more for a 1v1 very decent Dman if traded (I would keep him and surround him with better player as a GM). Really curious about what he could do in playoffs games, he has the profile and tools to be good in it.

Even if the trade was good, doesnt leave room for the next years big 3 signings
