Description
I saw a trade "rumor" via The Hockey Press on twitter that apparently the Wild have offered Zucker and Dumba for RNH and Pouliot. 1st off I don't believe that what so ever. The Wild would be taking on $8 million in cap space. ($6M for RNH, $4M for Pouliot minus Zucker's $2M and $0 for Dumba since he is an RFA.) So again I HIGHLY doubt that trade could work. The Wild have been heavily linked to RNH for over a year now and I do believe they want him and I as a fan want him. But for Dumba and Zucker? That doesn't make any sense to me and I don't think that trade makes the Minnesota Wild any better. So I thought if Pominville could go the other way it might just make sense. Still the cap in my roster it over, but the retained salary in the trade could be more than 1,000,000 and all other details are by no means finalized.

I like your rational and I think this does what Edmonton is looking for a solid D man and a shake up at F. Pominville should also help in the leadership category for the young kids.

This deal makes a LOT more sense than the rumored offer by the Wild, but...
First of all, the rumored offer makes absolutely no sense at all, so I do not believe one word about it. Second, I do not want the Wild to trade Dumba. They don't have many right shot defensemen in the system or at the NHL level...not to mention the Wild have ZERO piss and vinegar to spare and Dumba is the only d-man they have who has any. As for Pouliot - no thanks! Been there, done that. He's an overpaid 3rd/4th liner approaching 30 years old and has 3 years left on his deal...again, no thanks!
Pominville to the Oilers makes perfect sense to me too. I've been saying this for a while now. He's a veteran leader and Edmonton is a young team swimming in circles missing a fin or two. Speaking of missing a Finn or two, do the Oilers want Koivu or Granlund too???
