Giving up too much in the Colorado trade! This trade could/should be made without the 1st round pick! Also need to get more for Bozak or a package!

Agree with Doug about the Avs trade. Bernier and Bozak could probably only be traded if money was coming back to the Leafs. I'd rather keep Bozak as the 3rd/4th centre for the next year or maybe even two to help Matthews and Nylander. He may be more valuable as a Leaf than a future pick. Hopefully Bernier has a good year and can be traded for goaltending needing contender at TDL.

You guys need to dtop giving up on Bernier, he had a good year if you consider the team around him. He is a very solid goalie who can be number 1, just cant expect to win every game with him when you field a team trying to get the first pick.

Hi Kickhead: When the Leafs made the deal for Anderson and signed him for 25m for 5 years, it sure looks like the Leafs have decided Anderson is the goalies of the future. Though Bernier was OK to good in most of the 2016 calendar year, he was just awful in OCT/NOV/DEC of 2015. He would often let in very weak goals often on the first shot of the game. Can't blame the defence for that. Bernier is going to be a UFA at the end of the season and even if does play well the Leafs aren't going to carry 9m a year in goalies in 2017. No I haven't given up on Bernier, but there is very little changce is a Leaf in summer of 2017. Wish him well, and hope stays a good NHL goalie for some team.
PS. Even if a team finishes 30th in the standings, there is still only a 20% change of getting the first pick. The Leafs have finished out of the playoffs 7 of the last 8 years, so odds were at some time they would finish last.

Twitter rumoured trade I saw yesterday was JVR, Bozak, Gardiner, & Kapanen for Duchene and Barrie, which in my opinion would be great for the leafs. Another rumoured trade from another source (which I can't seem to find anymore) had JVR, Bozak, Gardiner, Dermott for Duchene & Gelinas. I am not sure how it evolved into first & seconds being exchanged. Source also said leafs were bidding against Winnipeg (with trouba being main piece going to COL). With Anderson locked up long term, and Bernier a UFA at the end of the season, I thinks it is the perfect time to give up on him ... Bernier is gone at the end of the year regardless.
