Sabres can just scoop him up while they're over in Europe this weekend.

We definitely don’t need it, we have Sobotka.

But seriously, I would like to see him in Buffalo, plus we have a couple of Finns, maybe it will be easier for him to adapt and find a common language with the team. I think he would definitely get his chance in the top 9, given that we have Sobotka, Sheary and Rodrigues playing from time to time on this position.

Right now, Puljujarvi's value is at a nadir. That's generally not a good time to deal a young player.

This is not his nadir. His value was at a nadir last spring after his hip surgery, he was coming off a poor season (due to having pain while skating) and nobody knew just how effective the surgery would be.

Since returning to Finland, Jesse has put together impressive stats:

4, 2-2-4 +4 in Champions Hockey League
18, 11-9-20 +17 in Liiga (roughly equivalent to the AHL)

Those stats are good for 5th in the league for points (3 behind the leader), 3rd in goals (3 behind) and 3rd in +/- (3 behind). And now he's been invited to represent Team Finland in the European Hockey Tour / Karjala Tournament which starts this week.

His value is clearly on the rise again. Holland was right to not trade him over the summer as many were calling for.
