Description
This is a mid-season 2020-2021 roster.

Petry and Tatar are not injured in this case, they are on the trading block. I placed them on IR just to show what the lineup could look like without them (or the assets they might yield in a trade). Any offers!?

I know this lineup looks filled with rookies, but the expectation here imo is that the only rookies in this lineup are Caufield, Ratcliffe and Romanov. Guys like Poehling, Suzuki, Evans, Brook in this case would be halfway into their sophomore season.

The CHI trade:
Basically trading Armia for a prospect. Nordgren's most successful period was playing beside Kotkaniemi at the U18 WJ, where FIN won Gold. I'm just attempting to bring Nordgren in the same organization as KK where they might find the same U18 chemistry. Nordgren would start in the AHL however, where hopefully he can play with guys like Ikonen and Ylonen who will also be in the Laval at that point in 2020.

The PHI trade:
This one is tricky, and purely depends on how successful Ratcliffe is in the 2019 season. If he make the Flyers roster, and manages to play in a role higher than the 4th line. than 100% he is not available. Can't see it happening. However! If Ratcliffe can't make a spot for himself in 2019, but still has a decent AHL season. Then I think he could be had in a trade for the right price. Obviously the reason I'm trying to acquire him is to play him with Suzuki. Their chemistry in Guelph was incredible. So the reasoning for this trade is MTL is sending a middle 6 forward in Lehkonen PHI knows can play a two-way role, (great defensive game, and can pop in a few pts here and there). a 2nd rd pick (personally this seems high to add with Lehkonen, for a player that would have almost zero NHL experience yet. but since MTL would still have 11 more draft pick in the 2020 draft, this seems like a digestible slight overpay if you ask me). Including McCarron in this deal is basically a throw in that doesn't hold any real value. He's just a reclamation project for PHI that plays a similar style to Ratcliffe. PHI also send s over their yearly 7th rd pick to MTL, because they seem to do it every year anyways lol.

Ratcliffe wont be ready
if he has another 2 years to work with Marner and Suzuki's skating coach then maybe but 1 year isnt enough
he's gonna be dominant when he gets here though and he's the perfect guy to create room for Suzuki and defend him when needed.

PHI have Mathew Strome in the system filling that role but no Forward back checker with Lehkonen's level of defensive ability so it makes sense to give them a solid winger to cover Patrick so he can jump up in the play more .

i'd keep Armia as his size on 4th line will be key if you're running Byron and Evans there
if we're going on a Playoff run we'll need it .
Kulak like Reilly will have a less succesful 2nd year .(most forget but Reilly scored 7 points in his first 9 games here playing 20+ minutes straight out the gate but couldnt repeat the success the next year)
Chariot is a reliable back up for when Kulak struggles

Petry and Tatar make sense to move now for added value giving teams 2 playoff run attempts with them

all in all i like this post as most of it makes a lot of sense and seems like how it will go down .
i think Romanov coming takes away the need for Kulak as Romanov is a mobile D that plays with a grit edge .
Chariot is a physical shot blocking /hitting D who would give Brook the room to jump up in the play freely providing the same balance Juulsen would to Romanov .

but i like all the pieces in play and the fact you waited on bring Primeau up and are developing him fully as a Starter

You are not getting Ratcliffe for a bunch of lesser players.

If they are trading him it’s part of a package for a premium player.

This is a pipe dream.

Well as I wrote in my description. If Ratcliffe makes the Flyers right out the gate this season in a role higher than the 4th line, no chance he's available. This is off the basis that he doesn't play in the NHL during the 2019-20 season, and goes to the AHL. Guys of Ratcliffe style of play usually get loss in the AHL. They get forced to take on more physical roles and less offensive ones. only then would a value trade like this be possible, but not before. there I agree with you.

Does not matter what happens with him. You are reaching. If he goes to the AHL and sucks, they will give him more time to develop. He is not expected to make the team this year. They are looking at 2 years in the AHL before that happens.

Too soon to trade Petry and Tatar now. sure you'd get more value now, but realistically it's just not gonna happen. MTL's 2019 season would royally have to go up in flames for both to be moved.

Armia will be on his last year of his contract during the 2020 season, and will be a UFA afterwards. paying him $2.6mil+ aav on a 4th line will be too much especially with all the big contracts coming for the Habs in that offseason. Move him for assets.
