$20m in space before shaking free of clutterbuck, boychuk, and hickey contracts which wouldn't be too difficult

I don't think so. You have $5.5M in cap space now (signing Kapanen for $4.5M). Add Greiss' and Martin's expiring contracts, that's another $5.8M. Cap goes up another $3M and you have $14.3M. Re-singing Barzal will take an additional $9M over his current hit, and Pulock and Toews about $4M between the two of them. Maybe one other adjustment needs to be made to replace Greiss and Martin after promoting guys from the AHL.
