Lol Islanders Offseason
Kane has 1 more year left on his deal at 10.5M. It'll be hard to find a team that can afford his contract and where he'd potentially waive his NMC. Therefore, his value will go down. I think Kane is worth around 2 1st round picks and that Beauvillier is worth a 1 and a 3. A 1, 2, and 2 3s is equivalent to 2 1s.

He's got 2 years left at $5.5M. Rangers traded Marc Staal at (I think) $5.3 million for 1 year with a 2nd. Market is 2 2's or a 1 because of it.

What Johnny Gaudreau is worth?
Johnny Gaudreau is obviously one of the best offensive players in the NHL. He's been an all-star for the past couple of seasons but has really fallen off a cliff this year. I heard rumors that the Flames and its fans were growing restless with Gaudreau, and that made me wonder: what is he worth? I don't want to hear a bs trade proposal, but what is the ballpark for someone like him. 2 first-rounders, a young top-6 guy, and a second-rounder? I've just never seen someone like Gaudreau (young, on a good contract, and arguably elite when at his best) traded in this era of the NHL and was curious what other people thought.

Hey man, can you link the report you're referring to? I'd like to check it out for myself. Also, there is no point in arguing with Leafs fans when it comes to Marner offer sheets, they are just scared children who resort to name calling and bullying to get you to back down because in actuality they are just scared because deep down they know the offer sheet threat is real with Marner, they just don't want to admit that signing Tavares from us last year is going to cost them a better player this year lol.
I for one, as an Islanders Fan, am all for an offer sheet from Lou to Marner. I think if Toronto keeps lowballing Marner into taking a 9-10m a year deal he is absolutely going to sign an offer sheet if one is offered. As for the argument that "Offer sheets simply won't happen because they've never been used" argument... there has never been a crop of RFAs like this year, combined with a number of teams (who own those RFAs) being against the CAP... it's the perfect storm for Offer Sheets to suddenly become a thing this year.[/quote]

Bring Me Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>I don't think you understand just how much Marner makes from endorsements for being the home town boy in Toronto. Those endorsements + the 8th year the Leafs could give him are worth far more than the raise you would be giving him in this contract.
You literally threw things at JT and made up a conspiracy that he wanted to leave. That is in no way even remotely on the same level as the KD situation (which I think was mis-communication and not fans booing KD. They only seemed to cheer when he got up, as is common in hockey as a sign of respect but not in Bball).
Only correct thing you said was about the endorsements and the eight year.
And as for the source, the question becomes, why would anyone from Montreal be leaking a Marner OS from NY? , it is almost certainly Domi acting on behalf of Ferris.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>there are so many people saying the islanders are interested on Marner that that all gets thrown out the window at this point.</div>
You assume that many rumours supersedes the extremely unlikely chance of an OS? If so, I wouldn't trust your judgement on how long to microwave Kraft Dinner.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>The most likely source of this is from Domi, who is a Ferris client (same agent). This whole leak is just Ferris trying to negotiate through the media again.
Also, for 4 1st from the <strong>Isles</strong> (a team primed to regress badly)? He is all yours lol.
Remember that Marner has to sign the thing. The difference in what he would get paid yearly contract wise he makes up in his sponsorship deals that will dry up if he pulls **** like that (so it is not a raise). He has also seen how you treated Tavares. You killed your chances at getting deals and UFA/RFA's from your behaviour.
Another point is that Lou has never in his 32 year career given an OS, and the two times he has been on the receiving end has been a mess.
tl;dr
its not happening, and you'd be stupid to hope for it anyway</div></div>
The guy opted to stay anonymous so idk who it was, could be Domi. Marner would 100 percent sign the contract bc it's 12.5 million, you don't walk away from that. Also, "our behavior", really? That's why a free agent isn't gonna sign with the Islanders... That'd be like no one signing with the Raptors bc of Durant, it has no effect on free agency. The point on Lou is a valid one, but there are so many people saying the islanders are interested on Marner that that all gets thrown out the window at this point.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>newballcoach</b></div><div>That is some generous rounding up. I am still not sure it's enough for all 3 players.
You just paid Marner 12.5. You're playing him with Barzal. Worst case, Barzal is going to have 30 goals and 40 assists, and probably a lot more than that. Do you think Barzal is going to take a deal to stay? Marner didn't, and your team has set a dangerous precedent of overpaying players they want. Plus Pullock and his people will know there is a market for him, so they aren't going to do you a favour either. It's a slippery slope man.</div></div>
I didn't round up... there might be a difference of .3 million but still. Barzal is my favorite player and he's exceptional, but I'd be shocked if he scored 30 goals. He'll prob get an 8 million AAV deal and Pulock/Toews at 5 each. That's 18 million.

I legitimately wonder if the Islanders farm and young talent would be enough to balance out the 4 first's. I'd probably say yes bc Toews, Pulock, barzal, Beau, Wahlstrom, Wilde, Dobson, Sorokin, Bellows, whoever they pick this year, (and Marner) are all young.

They have 3 million available for next season with my cap friendly. They'd add 9 million from forwards, 3 from defenseman, and 3 from goalies. If you add that you have 18 million remaining, I said 18 million - 22 million remaining for 2020-21 based on the 2020-21 salary cap increase. Also, I didn't base that from barstool sports, you could tell from the reaction of both teams and literally everyone watching the game.

Islander fans are awesome. Why would Marner want to go there when a) he saw first hand how you treat your players if they ever decide to leave and b) you are almost guaranteed to be worse than Toronto for the next 5 years at least.</div></div>
Islanders would have around 18-22 million in cap space next season to sign Barzy/Toews/Pulock. Also, don't think another player rlly cares that another got booed and chanted at. It's not like a random Warrior would refuse to play for the Raptors bc the fans were cheering for a hurt Durant. Besides, are the Leafs that much better than the Islanders? No, not really.
