I think a lot of the comments about teams with "Cap Problems" not taking salary back are misguided. A lot depends on what positions they have in excess vs need.
In Chicago's case they probably don't want to take on that big of a contact AND give up Shaw....more likely they want to move our Bickell so they can sign him themselves.
As for Anaheim, that kind of deal makes perfect sense. They have two number one goalies, one of which is looking to need a significant raise to keep. So makes more sense to trade from a position of strength and acquire a top 3 forward at the same cost. Now, from Toronto's point of view, JVR is too steep a price for Andersen. There's more sellers than buyers on the goalie market so I don't think the price will be that high at the end of the day.
