Description
So finally the leafs clued in to the fact that if we were to draft well let them develop and start drafting players who know how to play hockey instead of who has the hardest punch we might actually look better on the ice. Even though we might have lost a lot this year I think most fans can agree we were playing better overall as sad as that sounds. I can't wait til we are winning again and BTW big shout out to Trevor Linden for bringing the Pat Quinn Lucky charm with him all leaf fans owe you a beer.

Would think Shaw plays center over Nylander and Marner plays less but good roster

As a non-leafs fan, this looks like a great offseason. God I love JVR though haha

Why would Chicago make that deal? The reason they could not resign Shaw is for cap reasons and then you gave them the more expensive Bozak. Bickell only cost 1m a year for 2 years in a buyout. Don't know if the Duc ks do the deal either. Anderson is still their # 1 goalie and the trade doesn't help their cap situation.

Chicago does not make that trade, they are taking on an extra year of Bozak whom they do not need, by getting rid of Shaw, whom they can only not sign because of Bickell, also in the trade?? Makes no sense.

Toronto does not touch JVR for Andersen. Horrible deal

I think a lot of the comments about teams with "Cap Problems" not taking salary back are misguided. A lot depends on what positions they have in excess vs need.

In Chicago's case they probably don't want to take on that big of a contact AND give up Shaw....more likely they want to move our Bickell so they can sign him themselves.

As for Anaheim, that kind of deal makes perfect sense. They have two number one goalies, one of which is looking to need a significant raise to keep. So makes more sense to trade from a position of strength and acquire a top 3 forward at the same cost. Now, from Toronto's point of view, JVR is too steep a price for Andersen. There's more sellers than buyers on the goalie market so I don't think the price will be that high at the end of the day.
