Toronto Maple Leafs - Realistic 2016/17
Agree with Palhal if we were to trade Bernier to even the bulk of the teams looking for a quality backup we will probably need to retain up to half his salary to close the deal.

Las Vegas Expansion Draft 17/18
Dano, Dumba, Pokka just offhand will not be available in the expansion draft they will be protected by their teams or Traded to team that will have protection space especially Dumba the wild aren't stupid and will want something back for him. but other than those 3 and maybe a few others thus could be the results of the expansion draft

the ANA trade is fair but odds are the leafs are going to go after a RHD seeing babcock likes balance. The DET trade is an over evaluation of Holland odds are he will be a add on to a trade or a 4th 5th if the leafs are lucky though Columbus might gives us that seeing what they gave us for Rychel. The Bozak trade is fair and could happen if the leafs get Stamkos seeing Bozak could play 2/3 line for TB.

Well, my thinking is that he plays the role we need on our defense and young enough to be part of the solution. also just look how well he played in LA maybe he just needs a proper structured system to play well.

Evening out the roster
Though what you have offered is value I doubt the leafs are going to trade Nylander. It would be more likely they trade next year's 1st and 31st overall and subtract Nylander due to one of those core players the leafs are building with.

I agree with going after Shattenkirk but it will probably be more Bozak, Hunwick, Valiev, and 31st overall this year for Shattenkirk. second, Stamkos could come to TO but I doubt he will be comming to play wing. Third why are we taking Smid??? he's a decent play but unless it's to move some cap from the Flames I'd just take the 2nd and run.

And we in Leafnation thank the blue jackets in our evening prayers every night. The contract Nonis signed him to should end he career as a GM didn't like it day one looked worse everyday after. However, I do get why they needed to trade Horton they were paying someone to live in the press box and at least they are getting a depth forward.

Re-signing Connor and filling in with depth
It could be wishful thinking that McDavid will even sign long term. Though I truly hope he does for your sake these next 2 years could decide if McDavid wants to be an oiler long term or maybe go to a team that has the management skills to build a champion.

Malkin
If your point was to show how the blackhawks cannot afford malkin you did a great job. They need more depth but the problem is they need to find players that they can sign for cheep and they out produce their contracts. Malkin might be moved but unless soneone like Seabrook is part of the trade they can't do it.

Toronto Maple Leafs
Though I think Barrie is a very good dman babs likes to to pair offensive dman with a more complete dman so with Reilly, and Gardiner in place we need a more 2 way dman ideally right handed because odds are Reilly Gardiner and Barrie in this situation would play on separate pairings.

I could see us going after Shattenkirk but not with those players. I could see maybe Bozak and Hunwick and 31st overall. most people consider 31 as a 1st round pick, Bozak gives them a quality 2/3center and Hunwick is a solid 3rd pair D who can play top 4 min in a pinch. For a team looking to go after a cup center depth and D depth is pivotal to any run. They could add a 2 tier prospect but your right 1st are too valueable to a team.

Sabres-Modest Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mikeyscav</b></div><div><i>That was his agent that said that, he is forced to say that. Just a negotiation tactic because if the agent says they will be happy in buffalo that gives Buffalo the power. Just trying to suck more bonuses from Buffalo which is fine. Vesey is pretty close to Eichel after playing together before including this offseason in a summer league. I think the Eichel factor and the promise of a top-6 spot keeps Vesey in buffalo</i></div></div>
The thing is that they usually say that if money or term are at stake in his clients situation every team is offering the same amount over the same amount of years. I really hope for your teams sake that he does sign after they took such a big risk I just don't see why if buffalo was a top 3 choice that his agent just would not have at least was unavailable to comment or at least that he and his client are excited to see what the sabres are offering but still going to explore free agency.

Sabres-Modest Offseason
Well I hate to tell you Vesey has already stated after the trade he will still be going to free agency so unless the sabres blow him away he obviously doesn't have them on his list which in my opinion are in order Bruins, Leafs, or any playoff team weak on the leftwing (his strongest position)

Though they just gave up a 3rd round pick for Vesey he has already come out and said he is still going to free agency so he obviously not really keen on signing with Buffalo. So I hate to say this but they just lost a future prospect for nothing.

though a fair trade it probably would be better for the leafs to look at MIN or ANA to get a young right hand dman due to they are going to move some defensive assets to get cap space or forward depth.

I could see Carolina being interested in RNH but skinner is a top line forward and Fluery looks like a future top pair D they might want the 4th overall involved as well.

Agree with Anaheim trade good value for both and your right about Vatanen he's too skilled and has too much hockey sense to play Carlyle's dump and chase if we only had Colton Orr and Frazer McLean on the roster he probably would have taken them instead of the 2nds.

I agree with Palhal I agree with everything you did but EVERY UFA and EVERY trade. The leafs are not finished with their rebuild and a 14 million dollar contract is too rich for them. They will Tapout at around 10 and wish him all the best in the future.

Bozak for Datsyuk should get us a 2nd and our 3rd back for helping them get Datsyuk contract if not a 2nd tier prospect as well. Lupul might be traded but it will be to a team probably not in cap hell right now not a bad offer though if they can get Columbus to do it.

Maybe the pens will throw Letang in for a bag of pucks. Even if their captain was available it would take a lot more than 2 Solid players. Look at what LA gave for Gretzky and work off that as a model.

Brainstorming 1.2
If I was to put Kadri into this deal I would want probably the 1st in 2017 rather than the 20th this year due to that his is on a very cap friendly contract for 5 more years. I also, think if Lou and Co decide to trade matthews he will get Domi, Strome, 7th this year and probably 1st next year due to that they will still probably be a lotto team next year and we already have a record amount of picks this year.

If we were to trade down
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div><i>In a perfect world, Strome + 7th & 20th for Matthews and everyone should be happy. Make no mistake, that's an over payment from the Coyotes but one that may prove to be worth it in the long run when Matthews helps sell tickets as the home boy in town.
On the flip-side, Toronto gets their #1 center of the future. I don't know why people are semi-doubting this? He will be a good one. Might need an extra year to develop as Matthews looks more ready now but either way the leafs aren't winning a cup anytime soon so that development time is fine. Now throw in the fact that they could add 2 solid pieces that could be NHL ready as soon as next year in guys likes Juolevi/Chychrun/Sergachev and a guy like Jones/Fabbro/Stanley with the 20th, they're rebuild is nearly set as they would be solid in every position except for goal tending. Which as Murray and Jones showed, isn't the position you need an all-star proven goalie to win the cup anymore.
Toronto fans, I sincerely hope the Leafs <strong>don't </strong>make this trade as it would improve them greatly if they did. As a die hard Habs fan i hope they keep Matthews as i see it as the lesser of 2 evils from our perspective. :|
Your starting to scare me Toronto, with amount of prospects your amassing. I can't believe i'm saying this but i kind of hope you start winning games as soon as next year so you can leave the some of the prospects for the rest of us.</i></div></div>
Though I agree that both Strome and Matthews are going to be very good #1 centers the point I was making is Lou and Co will try and leverage #1 for everything it worth if they did trade it I would love to see Matthews in a leafs jersey and plan to order mine as soon as it is official but I can't see Toronto wanting to trade and Arizona will have to blow their socks off with the offer or they will settle with Matthews.

Turning a New Leaf
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeLeafer91</b></div><div><i><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>leafs1967again</b></div><div><i>I find that Buffalo trade pretty decent. Not sure others will agree.
Why is NSH trading a 1st for Nolan Vesey lol. He is terrible. So is the FLA offer - FLA wouldn't touch that.</i></div></div>
Nashville is having trouble signing their prospect Jimmy Vesey, Nolan's older brother who's actually good. There's rumours that Leafs will sign him and Nashville could cry foul over tampering. So instead of that mess, just trade Nolan Vesey to them for 1st round pick.
From last season, it appears that Florida is keen on winning now. Bozak and VanRiemsdyk makes them much better up front and they both only have one year left on their contracts but could be resigned. I think all they'd need is a top four UFA defenceman.
Huberdeau Barkov Jagr
Bjugstad Trochek VanRiemsdyk
Jokinen Bozak Smith
Also:
Detroit is trying to dump Datsyuk's salary, Robidas's 3M cap hit can be written off like the Leafs did last season, Cowen's contract can be bought out at reported (something along the lines of) 650K cap credit this season and 750K cap hit the season after.
Chicago is also trying to dump Bickell's contract, they demoted him to AHL last season. Hence the draft picks.
Not too confident about Edmonton trade, though looking at their lineup I think Hunwick would fit nicely with their young blueline and play more when needed. Yakupov who has underachieved is rumoured to be available but I'm not sure what the Edmonton would want. I figured Kadri after comparing stats.</i></div></div>
So because the Leafs may have "tapered" Nashville gives us a 1st????

New Leafs
1) Lupul is actual salary LTIR or not and Arizona can sign a UFA that can help.
2) The WPG and ANA trades may work but WPG may want 30th overall rather than Marincin and the 4th.
