fair point, they could get any other capable third pairing dman without giving up legare and a second tho

you make a good point with trying carter with the top line, they play buffalo this weekend and jersey next week so it'd be a good a time as any. carter's a veteran and has been adaptable throughout his career so i think he'll be able to fly with sid, geno, or mccann

I'll wait on that.</div></div>
Think im going to get the world? lmao it shouldn't be the world for a defender not to constantly screen a goalie and score on his own goalie. TVR, Sergachev, grzelcyk, Larson, McCabe, hague, Engelland just to name a few

You won't find a single team in the league who has a 3rd pairing guy who can do that even remotely effectively.
Truth is he's played fairly well. As much as you knock him, you over look the fact he's playing 20+ minutes a game and they are winning them.</div></div>
No, hes not playing fairly well. Compared to last year he is better, but he is still horrible. Hes out of position, screens his own goalies, and gets burned. Look at everyone when they are paired to Johnson, their play drops drastically. Just because they're winning, doesn't mean hes part of the reason

Is he a bit over paid for a 3LD, yeah sure he is. But how many 3LD do you know that can move up and play 2nd and 1st pair minutes for an extended period of time and it not be a complete disaster.
He's fine. He's playing out his role and has been for some time. It's not his fault he's there.</div></div>
Not be a complete disaster? lmao hes scored more goals for the other team this year than scored for pittsburgh. Hes a disaster no matter who he gets paired with. Its not a coincidence everyones numbers are down when they have to play with him

He is overpaid for what is, you are right. Fun fact, Jusso Riikola has significantly better results when used on the third pairing. You can ignore all of Jacks bad play on the Letang pairing and just look at that. He also does not fit well with Sullivan's system at all due to his poor passing and skating in transition.
And regardless of where he is used, the issues are still there. Huge negative offensively. Poor at protecting his own net due to bad awareness. This is why lots of pucks bounce off of him an into the net. He also screens his goalies.
<img class="for_img" src="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EOqcBVsX4AEM-19?format=png&name=900x900" alt="EOqcBVsX4AEM-19?format=png&name=900x900">
See that giant red dot in front of the goal on the defensive end? That's where opponents are shooting when he's on the ice. These numbers all better than last year but are still abysmal. He's a negative to his own team on offense. A positive to the other team on offense.

Penguins played him on the R side and on the 2nd pairing last year.
If you watched hockey you would know that.
He's serviceable in limited role on his natural side. And for 1-2 years it's a solid move. You dump him to seattle who you have to give a player and a sweetener keep off your good players after that.
This is not a long term deal, it's short term to help fill the gap, they can easily do this and it's worth the effort.</div></div>
Jack Johnson is literally one of the worst players in the league, no matter what side he plays on, end of discussion.
The fact that you even try to defend him shows you are a deluded idiot that has no clue what you're talking about

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>that's nonsense. Vegas took a lot of players that were junk for a pick. Because they had to take someone and that's how teams work it out. Colorado is giving that up anyway, which is the part you are unwilling to admit. At a minimum they will give up a 2nd to keep Seattle off players they want to keep. What do they get for the 2nd, a 2.7 million cap dump because seattle HAS to pick A player. It's fair.
On top of it, saying COL got nothing is clearly untrue. They get a fill in guy to come in and play who is easily movable and at a low cap hit. It costs COL virtually nothing the 1st year as the replacement is basically the cost of the LTIR on Cole. The second year is 1.7 roughly on the cap if sent down, with the hopes someone else in the same boat aka needing a replacement for 1 year picks him up. Given how things go he may actually stay that year in COL if he plays well. He is going to end up in Seattle everyone knows this. Seattle gets a pick, and a defense man at 2.7 million for 2 years. That's not a huge cap dump or issue.
You make this out to be more than it is. It's 2 years tops. It costs virtually nothing, and it fills a hole which right now looks very uncertain.</div></div>
Honestly, Seattle would have a choice between taking either Zadorov or Compher/Burakovsky, possibly more assets if they acquire some - taking either one of them is worth more than Johnson+2nd.
No one is taking Johnson without shedding some cap themselves. Considering what he brings, there is assets available that bring the same that he does in a much more sensible contract. As long as players like Lovejoy, Stone, Girardi, Petrovic etc. are available for basically no cost, no one is taking Johnson without compensation. There's virtually no level difference between these guys, but there could be potentially several million bucks in difference financially.

Malkin? Sure, he truly is elite and even at his age and wear and tear is a powerhouse. Kessel? Sorry dude not a fat chance. Guess you'll just have to keep him. No team in their right mind is paying four 1st rounders for Phil. Even at 3.4M. Dont @ me but if you think Phil is scoring 90 points in Anaheim (Or Arizona for that matter) you're off your rocker.

Umm, I'm not the person who posted that.....Maybe you are having trouble reading?
Puljujavi is also three years younger, and is a former top 5 pick with much better physical tools. At worst, he ends up ZAR. Decent chance to be a lot better. Absurd that you think it's some kind of crazy lopsided trade.

How do you come up with so many silly things to say in every Penguins thread? Jarry doesn't have a ton of value and needs to be traded in order to avoid waivers (since the Penguins have two NHL goalies). ZAR has been more injured than healthy and projects to be a third line winger, at best. And you act like trading them for a low-risk, high-reward prospect is some kind of lopsided thing they would ignore? Just dumb. At the very least, Puljujärvi should end up as good as ZAR but has a much higher ceiling due to his physical traits.
