It's simple. Stecher isn't really happy here in Vancouver, especially with the way things have been in the last little bit. I mean he has improved a bit this year, but he's not a top-pairing defenseman in my eyes.

I mean, Barrie kinda has been playing to what he's worth, he isn't worth $8 million now, we know that. If Tyson Barrie can take a hometown discount, then chances are they could go far in the future with him on board. Who knows? Maybe Toronto ruined him enough to the point where he could be declining early.

The more the merrier on defense. Timashov is NHL ready in my eyes. The Leafs are struggling on defense as we know, and adding will seal the deal. There has to be 23 players on the active roster.
