I'll pick one nit here . . . . you make a good point about asset management and better decision-making. But I think the organization we're left with, even in this revised history, is still an unfocused mess. Not your fault! But you mention "there's no need to rebuild with better management." I don't know . . .

I like where the future of the defense is heading, but at forward, not so much. That center depth looks awful. (I think there are reasons no one was willing to trade for Strome), and then, in terms of the future, are we looking at Reichel and Sillinger as the centers to build around? I guess? Not convinced that Reichel is a center yet or that Sillinger is going to be someone you write in to the top of the line-up. I think I'd rather have Nazar, but that's a lot of uncertainty either way, so this looks like a recipe for more years of on-the-playoff-bubble hockey.

Meanwhile, it leaves the prospect pool in worse shape than it is now. And that's a big deal whether this team is supposed to win this year, or next, or in 2 years. You need those guys to give you high value at league minimum deals, to trade for the big holes that will need to be filled, and to maybe fill the holes themselves. I look at this and think, what if Bowman . . . or someone else . . . what if YOU started that rebuild that Bowman claimed they were starting in 2019 and kept at it. This would be a nice step on the way to a rebuild, but if it its an argument against the rebuild, then I guess we will live with another 6 or 7 years of middle-of-the-road hockey.
