Dream Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Renegade_H</b></div><div>Your dream and my dream scenario are completely different. Not handing out massive contracts; trying to shed Coot's contract tho.</div></div>
Not just handing out contracts willy nilly, handing out contracts to younger (no one over 30), who if they continue, will be bargains in a couple years and that's how you build a team, not to mention acquiring a talent that we haven't seen in quite some time. in 2 years, this sets us up to have cap space, enough time to judge our back end, spend more there if necessary, cut some dead weight, and have our core pronounced. If that's not a dream, I don't know what it is.

Krebs has been garbage - not one team would value Krebs over Laughton. Not sure what you're watching or reading but you're unequivocally wrong.

Lord Stephen Staios takes us to the promise land
Hathaway and the 3rd should be removed, Torts loves Hathaway and his contract is a bargain for what he does.
I think the odds of trading TK are getting lower by the day, a lot of rumblings of contract extension negotiations have started and TK has already stated he wants to be a Flyer for life. I would be happy if this was the return for him though.

Raiding CAR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chapee44</b></div><div>Konecny would be fine. They've talked about adding a big ticket top 6 forward. The issue here is the dead weight of Atkinson and Laughton.</div></div>
I wouldn't call Laughton dead weight. He's a do it all middle 6er with a great cap hit, not too long of term, and a well liked and hard working veteran player. Atkinson is I would say more dead weight but he's retained at 50%, also brings a veteran presence, can slot on the 3rd line, and is gone after a year. And if you guys aren't in the running, some team would give a 6th for a playoff run for added depth. Its really not a big deal at all to have him part of the deal.
I would take Krebs over Quinn if that's the consensus, this deal is really built around kulich the 1st and TK anyway.

It's not really 10mm when you figure JK is 5 out and Necas is signing easily over 6 - in the end they're saving cap space by a little.

Matvei Michkov
As a Flyers fan, I'm perfectly ecstatic with keeping Michkov. We needed to swing for the fences there. And it's not if he's ever coming over, he IS coming over, we're just hoping sooner rather than later. He's under contract for two more years after this one so he may not be here till 2026-27 if he honors that contract.

Another Idea for the Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DumbHockeyTrades</b></div><div>What value do you think TK has?</div></div>
181 points in 215 games over the last 3 seasons, 27 at the beginning of the year, can play either wing and plays on both special teams unit. He's got the attitude you want in a player and a motor that doesn't quick. I would say he has more value than you probably think he does. I would start at a first and an A prospect and probably a little more.

Key Player Acquisitons
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Huge_Caniac_Abe_Lincoln</b></div><div>Carolina can afford his cap hit, but even if they couldn't look at what Fiala or Reinhart got. Those were both for their RFA rights, and both returned a 1st and a prospect.</div></div>
Eh, I'm not sure about the cap hit, they have 15+ free agents (RFA and UFA) of players that are in their lineup right now. They're going to look drastically different next year IMO. I agree though, I would certainly up the offer if he was a 100% slam dunk to be back, and I think they'd be crazy not to prioritize him. But you know how Waddell operates, or Dundon, whoever.
If the offer started at a 1st and a prospect, what prospect would you say gets it done?

Key Player Acquisitons
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Huge_Caniac_Abe_Lincoln</b></div><div>RFA rights are worth significantly more than UFA rights - the latter are traded because on July 1st they can sign with any team, so a team acquires their rights prior to negotiate and prevent another team from signing the UFA. RFAs by definition cannot sign with another team (unless they do not received a qualifying offer) without an offer sheet.
The Flyers could trade a 3rd or later round pick for Brett Pesce in order to sign him before other teams get the chance on July 1st if he is a target of theirs and they are worried another team will sign him. The Flyers cannot sign Martin Necas on July 1st - only the Canes can - so this trade is not enough.</div></div>
I'd have no problem changing it to a 2nd, but more than that is kinda much, no? If CAR can't afford his cap hit with some other raises happening, a 2nd is a good get. If a bidding war started however, I guess all bets are off.

Another Idea for the Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boos</b></div><div>I like Laughton in a 3C role, but there are many in Sabreland who scoff at the notion and would prefer to go after Cates. Not sure the Fly-boys would trade Laughton's replacement.</div></div>
Yeah, we have a few Laughton replacements, even Poehling kinda does what he does. The main thing for Buffalo is, is to change that culture in the locker room. That pond hockey style doesn't work, especially with such a young D corps and goalie room. Guys like TK and Laughts would immediately bring a more disciplined approach, and not to mention, they both play on both sides of special teams. The value in these trades is certainly fair on both sides in my opinion.

Another Idea for the Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>knowerofpuck</b></div><div>Gotta imagine Ottawa wants more than this if they're giving up Norris too.</div></div>
I think the trade off here is, that Coots, albeit off of surgery and out almost two full seasons, pretty much showed up all year outside of being scratched. He's never been an injury prone guy, but literally had two years off. So even though he's 29, he really saved his body 160 games, and is proven not to be as injury prone as Norris. I think thats the trade off here, with Norris appearing to be one of those players that may never play a full 82.
Not at all saying Coots is the picture perfect example of health, but he's done it far more consistently than Norris has.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boos</b></div><div>Konecny has that competitiveness that the Sabres lack. And he's got top-six skill too.
However, he'd be considered a rental with only one year left on his deal and at 27 yrs. old, he'll probably be looking to cash in on a big-money, long-term deal. I don't think the Sabres will do that for a winger.</div></div>
I agree, and with an extension worked out, this deal would work. You guys are sorely lacking the culture that TK and Laughts would immediately bring and nurture. Need guys like that, and although SL had an underwhelming season, he really did get back on track after the deadline, he can play anywhere in the lineup, and is a very dependable player for his cap hit.

Always liked his style. He has lots of compete and quickness has no fear or hesitation and I believe he'll be able to build upon last season when he came back from injury.

So what you're saying is Kulich and a 1st for TK, Laughton and a 3rd?? Not enough at all. I'd add in a 3rd but Krebs stays. I would also assume that TK would work out an extension with BUF before being traded, as a hand shake wink wink type deal.
