He gets hurt every year. More about getting Byrum on defense and not needing Samuelsson in top 6. 3rd line center who can win face-offs is a better fir for what Sabres need.

That’s just typical from Sabrebluehs though
It's amazing how critical you are of everyone else's GM posts but <strong>hardly create any of your own</strong>. This is supposed to be a fun board to throw ideas out there. Not even sure who your team is? Yes every GM post I make there is an overpayment by the Sabres because that is the only way they can get decent players to Buffalo. As a fan of over 30 years I know that no good players come to Buffalo as free agents.

bold off season move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Jeff Skinner chose to come to Buffalo via trade, and they really didn’t give up much to get him. Also, recent history says Taylor Hall refutes your claim that no good players sign in Buffalo. It didn’t work out, but he still came here. Sure the last time they got an impact free agent was Jaro Spacek, but eventually they won’t have to settle for busts.
Also, the general idea that a team needs to overpay in trades because players don’t want to go there makes no sense. The trades are negotiated by the teams, not by the players being moved. Even players with no trade or no movement clauses only get to decide if they accept the deal that’s been agreed on, not who or what assets are involved.</div></div>
Skinner came from a crappy Carolina team and brought him closer to his hometown. He had one year left on his contract. The only reason he is still in Buffalo is because they overpaid him.
Hall only came here because of his relationship had with Krueger. Notice though it was only a 1 year overpayment contract!!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Sabrebluehs always has insane trades

The only way to get good solid vet players is to overpay in a trade. It has been that way for years. Yes, most trades I propose for sabres is an overpayment. Can you tell me who was the last star player, that was a star before being brought to Buffalo, that was traded the sabres? Maybe Skinner in 2018 or O'Reilly in 2015.

If Buffalo is sending a 3rd rd pick, then NYR better be sending a 2nd rd pick to Buffalo and retaining $1 million a year.

Yes, I made it for next off season, but the trade is made at the trade deadline of this year9in description of trade). Sabres are in playoffs and want a more veteran goalie and get Saros for two post seasons.

who does this help more
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>Calgary by a huge massive margin.</div></div>
I took into consideration that Toronto may buy out Brodie to free up cap space, so he is basically a cap dump for Toronto but can actually help Calgary. The trade really boils down to Toronto getting a middle six winger and 1st rd pick for Nylander. Calgary may try and resign Nylander, Toronto has no chance to resign him unless Matthews walks.

I'm not sure what Calgary's lines were last year but I can see where Olofsson could be a good fit as a shooter with Huberdeau and Lindholm. Not sure of the relationship between Lindholm and Olofsson since they are both 28 year old Swede's. If they have good chemistry, they could both extend in Calgary which turns out to be much more than getting the 2nd rd pick for Backlund. If it doesn't work out you can still flip Olofsson at the deadline.

This is in two years when McDavid only has one year left on contract. For only one year of guarantee, this offer is plenty. If it comes with an 8 year $17 million extension, then maybe more.

I have never seen a trade with any pieces moving out of Calgary that you do like. For years you have over valued every Calgary player I don't even pay attention to any of your comments anymore.
You must have really flipped your lid last year when Calgary didn't resign Johnny G and traded Tkachuk!!

crazy ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I like Carlo and Dillon as targets, really adds to our d. The op is not close for boston, I would see what the real cost of Carlo was. Probably leave swayman out, the goalies won't be left to fend for themselves as much with these upgrades, just grabbing a vet goalie to split time with Levi would probably be fine. I don't mind jeannot, especially at 4m for a year, but you lost me at offer sheeting, offer sheeting is a bold move, doesn't seem like a move the Sabres would make. Kinda feels like throwing rocks at a hornets nest too, and jeannot is a risky player to get yourself in hot water over.</div></div>
The only reason I did the offer sheet as I don't think they will trade him since they gave up so much to get him. I know there is always fear of retribution from a team if you offer sheet one of their players, but tampa has no leverage as they are up against the cap and have like no early picks for the forseable future to make an offer sheet to any of the Sabres.
