This deal doesn't mean you can't swing one for a good LD or something. Romanov will be solid, Mete is solid, all you need is a solid free agent signing to shore that up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzmets</b></div><div>He is excellent defensively but contracts are typically structured around counting stats and Larsson has yet to eclipse 20 points in a season and is 27. He is a excellent 4th line center that can play on your third line in a pinch. If we have to commit those kinds of dollars O would want someone who might not be as good defensively but can bring me 25 to 30 points maybe 35 in a great year. Carl Soderberg someone along those lines</div></div>
True, Larsson will likely cost less, but at least that gives us less of a cap hit in this model and doesn't effect the overall structure of the team. My whole point is pretty much resign him no matter what bc his game is exactly what this team needs

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SalamiCheese</b></div><div>I don’t think it’s bad, but for me it all depends on who else is on the table when our choice. If there is Rossi or Raymond, I would not trade #8 and would find the center elsewhere.</div></div>
Fair point. For me, I think the only one is Rossi, who is arguably already NHL ready. Holtz and Raymond are intriguing but they are gonna take some years of development, both have pretty small frames and were barely SHL ready last year. If the pick would be Lundell, I say trade it even though I like him as a player. I think Perfetti is a horrible fit in Buffalo and I probably wouldn't consider him at any spot.

I also estimated he would also get 4.75, but I think it will be similar to Reinhart, shorter term. If he goes with 5 years, I would wager his contract will be about a million more per season.
Overall I like the build though.
Oh sorry one more comment, I would bench okposo for Lazar haha.</div></div>
Thanks man. You know, I actually love Okposo in a 4th line role. He has some of the skill and hockey IQ of the player he used to be, but his speed is gone. I just wish we were playing 1.5 mil for him and not 6 haha, that will be a huge talking point next summer when we need to resign Dahlin

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>This is extremely well reasoned. It is the perfect refutation of the Hertl-for-the-eighth nonsense that was so popular last week. Personally, I think you'd have to add your 2020 fourth, but you've got the basic value right.
I think <a href="/users/dzmets" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@dzmets</a> is more likely to be right on Larsson than you are, and I agree with <a href="/users/SlevinKalevra" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@SlevinKalevra</a> that Ristolainen doesn't get you a first. But you've created a very strong roster with a good future here. Well done!!</div></div>
Thanks, it takes a bit of research and knowing the perspectives of the teams you are trading with, also Evolving Hockey is huge. I would overpay for Larsson if needed, and for the purposes of this team, Risto's return doesn't really matter, just getting his cap hit off the books.

It also provides some valuable insurance with Danault, Tatar, Gallagher, and Petry all being UFA's next summer. You guys will need a glut of high-end young players to replace some of them

Yeah I agree, the only thing potentially keeping him from fetching a 1st is his contract. I would take a 2nd and a B+ or cheap backup goalie. Either way, this roster build makes sure that whatever his return is will not be vital for the 2021 season

Yes Domi has played well, but Montreal is a bubble team in the Atlantic every year with With Boston, Tampa, Toronto trio, with Florida having a bad year (i blame Bobrosky). Montreal will then have pick 8 & 9 (If miss playoffs and doesn't get lucky in lottery), and can get 2 quality young players, let them develop for a year, then bring up all the kids in 2021-22 season.</div></div>
I'm a Sabres fan and I agree, both teams can turn into strong contenders in the division in the next 2-3 years. Also having 2 top 10 picks absolutely guarantees at least one of them will be elite.

The Sabres are just so bad at drafting that they would manage to find the only bust in the top 10 of this class. This fan base (and frankly Eichel) are sick of waiting for these "star" players to develop. From a fan that has suffered through Girgensens, Grigorenko, Ristolainen, Reinhart not coming even close to living up to a #2 pick (albeit solid), Nylander, Mittelstadt... they need a new approach and I completely disagree with guys like Holtz, Raymond, Perfetti being NHL ready. This past season, two of them were barely SHL ready. They need to surround Cozens and Mitts with established players for them to reach their ceiling

STOP TRADING 8OA
The Sabres are in win now mode, you can't argue that. If we miss the playoffs again, this franchise will collapse. The importance of winning has overtaken that of developing a prospect like Holtz or Lundell. I would take a risk on guys like Domi, Cirelli, Ehlers because it will take 3+ years for anyone we pick at 8 to mirror that production. We need guys to help develop mitts and Cozens, not more rookies

I think this is a reasonable deal as a Jets fan. You have Vesalainen or Roslovic to replace Ehlers

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Colorado declines in a hurry.
Graves is top 4 quality based on this season, but he hasn't played 100 NHL games so he doesn't have much leverage when it comes to contract negotiations. I'd expect him to resign at $2.5m-2.75m for 2-3 years. Which is certainly low enough to not price us out of keeping him (especially given our healthy capspace).
Also, Avs don't have any room anymore for reclamations like Mittelstadt as we are looking to contend.</div></div>

Big Tampa Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Tampa declines as Serg is better than Ristolainen and Palat is better than Mittlestadt. Additionally, Tampa won't be taking back a big contract and retain on Palat in the same deal. Tampa isn't really interested in Mittlestadt, as they already have several players at his level ready for a bottom 6 role. He would also have to be re-signed to a new deal and Tampa doesn't need to pay him 1.x to 2 million for that role. Tampa loses the trade and isn't one they'd make at this time.</div></div>
Even without the retain, why wouldn't they consider this move from a cap space perspective. A young guy with upside in Mitts and essentially 6 million in cap space for Cirelli
