Provorov below Connor, Aho, and Werenski.
I would be interested to hear your reasoning on why you chose Barzal over Marner, I think those two are very interesting and very similar.

Then the Sens can add another player for some more money. Reaching the floor shouldn't be a problem.

Right I think the Sens have the cap space for that.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, because Laffy gets 60-65 in his rookie season.

24 Team Playoff Lines - Toronto Maple Leafs
Anybody else think that everybody has just decided as a collective body to never vote for the Leafs to win a playoff series again?
This is a team that if Kadri hadn't been suspended might have beaten Boston last year. That said these circumstances make everything crazy.

Playoffs - Can it beat the Jackets
I think that there are a few things that will give the Leafs the edge in this series.
1. It won't be typical playoff hockey, the refs aren't going to let the things go that are normally allowed come playoffs due to everyone coming back after a long break.
2. While both teams will be healthy the Leafs d-corp will be back at full health which it was really only there during their December in which they had a great run.
3. It's easier to come out guns blazing after a long break than get back to stingy defense. Teams score more goals early in the season.
4. Game breakers and an experienced goalie. The Blue Jackets are a good team with good players (I recognize Jones and Werenski are more then good but...) The leafs have more guys that are able to take over a game and in a short series that could essential.
But of course this is all speculation

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>I think this is pretty darn good for an early effort. Yeah, you're low on all of the UFA's but you've gone after the right players and the resulting team is a definite improvement on the current squad, which was a playoff contender and an offensive moose. And contrary to the earlier comment, the Ducks would be seriously interested in that return for taking on Eriksson, as he is owed only $5 million after payment of his bonus on July 1st and that dovetails nicely with Anaheim's internal salary cap.</div></div>
Well thank you. You seem like a very nice human being.

Detroit's only about another 4 solid players from be a legit playoff team. If Detroit were to say get Alexis Lafreniere and say bring home Krug sign one of Lehner/Markstrom of Holtby and add another solid player like Hall or Hoffman they're much closer to a playoff team then a cellar dweller.</div></div>
True but even then with those names you mentioned Detroit isn't a contender. But I take your point. What do you think of the new contracts?

Hopefully if the cap does stay flat there will be a CBO that will help some teams. As a Tampa Bay Lightning fan as well i will be curious as to what Julien BriseBois does this coming summer. Tampa Bay is royally screwed no matter how you look at it. Not sure how he gets out of it without losing some good players there.</div></div>
But players don't like playing on non-contenders.

How's that. You can think of the Demelo contract as at 3750000 if you want.

Markstrom has only been doing this well for one year. But I can see your point, and your saying I'm off by as little as half a million on the others.
What you have to remember is that the cap isn't moving up so people are going to get less than their previous market value.

With the cap not moving up a lot of guys aren't going to get as much money as might seem fair. They will either have to go to a non-contending team for more money or accept less money from a contending team. I've seen a lot of Demelo contracts at that money, I agree I don't know if Hoffman could come that cheap please give me a more fair value.
And would the trade work with a second instead of a third, or would I have to accept draft pick back instead of Heinen?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Stop putting Robertson in the Leafs lineup next year. He's not physically ready and we don't want him in the NHL until he's ready and fully developed. You're going to put him on the ice with Ryan Reaves at 175 pounds???? Please let him develop.

Forgot he was with Chicago in 2010. But that doesn't mean he doesn't want another one. But the main point I was making is that I think his next contract will be more about location than about money

We made a mistake please trade him back
Right because the Leafs are just going to throw five foot nine 175 pound Nicholas Robertson into the NHL with the likes of Ryan Reaves around. No thank you, give the kid time to develop, too many great prospects have been ruined by sending them into the NHL too early.
Plus while we clearly didn't win the Nazem Kadri deal I think Dubas had the right idea there. Nazem is a legitimate second line centre, even first line on many teams in the NHL and is wasted on the Leafs third line. We need defense not more offense.

Robertson needs more development time.
I honestly think that the Byfuglien contract could be around that money. I don't think he's interested in money as much anymore or he would have been willing to play out the contract he had with Winnipeg, he's also been injured for the season which will detract from the offers he gets. At the end of the day I think that he wants to win a cup and will accept a deal that might get him that and other than that bottom d-pair which looked bad this year this team might be able to do it.

I thought Shattenkirk at 3 mil was a bit of stretch there was going to be someone willing to give him more, considering he already has 34 points this year as a defenseman.
