Minnesota Wild signed Jared Spurgeon (7 Years / $7,575,000 AAV)
The term is not ideal, but the cap hit is perfectly fine. Spurgeon is arguably the most underrated defenseman in the league.

It's like you guys almost understand hyperbole.
That's okay. Hyperbole can be hard to understand, on the internet. Let me start again:
Thanks so much for the offer. The Caps are gonna hold onto Oshie. Need him to score goals and help Ovechkin try to win one more. Tough to negotiate a long-term extension with Backstrom while trading away his steadiest line-mate over the last three years for (googles the kid) an overhyped 25-year-old "prospect" with career highs of 16 goals and 30 points, who might not make the Caps' lineup ahead of Hathaway, Leipsic, or Boyd, plus a late 2nd round pick.
Can someone else say this better for me?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yojimbo</b></div><div>Would you give up.... Oshie [for] a #60ish [pick]?
lol</div></div>
Well said.</div></div>
Are you saying that everything that you ever post is hyperbole? Gross exaggerations not meant seriously? Your trade values are consistently so far off that no one knows if you are purposely exaggerating or not. Your normal is 20%-25% over value to begin with. Claiming that we do not get hyperbole when you post is is a parallel for crying wolf.
Where did the Oshie for #60ish come from?
Svechnikov may very well outproduce Oshie this year... at a 13 years younger and $4M cheaper. So what are you crying for Backstrom about? That he could get a younger, faster, hungrier linemate that produces the same if not better? Are you saying that Backstrom doesn't want better?
Maybe your posts just sound better in your head but everyone else just sees lopsided ramblings.

The kind of return Winnipeg is interested in. I mean he is a good defenseman but you are completely out of the track if you think that orlov can brings you a young gun like laine.
For vrana he is 2 years older and have a 100 less career point. This return is pure bullshat
Keep your players winnipeg don’t want that crap</div></div>
I mean I was very clear saying I would rather keep my players. And top pairing defenseman is what he is sorry pal if that’s too heavy for you. 100 less career points in what 80 less games. Ha amazing take dude w your brilliant takes you should write for nhl.com. Laine isn’t needed in dc we are stacked at rw. Also in win now so we don’t need to teach somebody how to play defense. Keep laine. He needs talent to support him

Imagine if the Nucks bought out Tanev and brought him back at 700K
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rootferdukes</b></div><div>I don't think it'll really catch on, and it almost certainly wouldn't have worked if the Canucks had tried this with Tanev this year. Prior to a buyout, the player has to be offered on unconditional waivers, which in most buyouts is no problem because the player sucks and no one would want to claim him or his bad contract, but guys like Tanev and Soderberg (another AGM post like this used him) are good enough players in their own right that at least one team would probably make a claim. In their cases, this amounts to just giving away a rental UFA for free instead of getting something for them, which is the opposite of good asset management. This will only work on guys that your front office is higher on than anyone else, which, considering that's how most bad free agent deals get signed in the first place, doesn't bode well for the future of your team.</div></div>
Yeah I used Tanev/Soderberg but I guess in hindsight I should't have. It seems my pont was flying over peoples heads a little. My goal wasn't to say they suck so they should be bought out. It was just to show if a player of those guys contract amount and term <em>were</em> bought out, what the cap situation would look like.

Uhm.. not necesarilly truth.. Played 71 games and had 62 points in ottawa in 17-18 (0.873) and had 45pts in 53 games in San José year later (0.849) which would on full regular season shedule mean decrease of 2 points. Also he had very significant injury this past year..

on the defensive end a positive number implies that the other team gets more unblocked shots. A positive number in the offensive zone is good, a positive number in the defensive zone is bad
