Pittsburgh may be the team to watch on Collin Graf sweepstakes. There was a rumor floating around a week or two ago that he had decided on Eastern Conference non-playoff team. Now, Friedman has linked Pittsburgh to Graf.
(QPac is currently down 2-0 in ECAC Semifinals…but will still likely make NCAA tournament, so won’t come this weekend).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>I wonder how Van is regretting jumping early for Lindholm
They payed a tonne for him but hes not really done much to have earned it
21 gp 4 goals and assists
And when you factor in Duclair and Toffoli's production on their respected teams being around the same its like okay why</div></div>
Figured I’d look at stats and see if I’d find anything interesting:
The biggest difference between Calgary and Vancouver is Lindholm’s icetime being down 3 min a game. He’s lost about 40% of his power play time too.
He’s taking defensive zone draws at the highest rate of his career, although he isn’t an extreme case.
His 5v5 rate metrics are equivalent to Calgary, and he’s arguably been a better 5v5 player in Vancouver than Calgary, although it’s splitting hairs and uses a lot of stats I hate. Ultimately I’d judge him as a positive top 9 contributor for a contending team.
My guess: he just got a lot of really good opportunities in Calgary, and now that some are gone, he’s adjusting fine, but it looks really bad because his assist number, primarily driven by non-5v5 icetime in Calgary, is soft, as his 5v5 assist rates are essentially the same.
I bet the bigger impact on the team is less his individual contribution, more what he unlocks by chewing up icetime without huge liability, allowing for more selective use of various offensive players.

Athletes getting CTE is one of the reasons ( but definitely not the only one), why I would not care if fighting and big hits left the game

ZEGRAS TRADE AT 6TH OVERALL PICK OF THE DRAFT PLUS OFFSEASON KNIGHT TRADE
LOL - not giving TWO top 10 picks for Zegras... you realize that Z was a top ten pick as well? We might end-up with TWO zegras-equivalent players by not trading...
Keep the assets, sign Zegras when he becomes a UFA or when he eventually goes the PLD route and is trade for cheap at 50% retained.
We are 3-4 years out before competing (aka times it takes for guys like Slaf, Hutson, Reinbacher to mature and simultaneously with the downfall of Toronto and Boston). We have time to develop a winning team.

Someone in the NHL front office or DOPS needs to have a sit down with Rempe and go look kid you cant be doing this ****
I get what hes trying to do but this is getting out of hand
I knew when he wasnt called for the Lybushkin **** he was gonna do something else as when nothing happens u think its fine to keep going. Tomorrow DOPS needs to step in and have a hearing. Even if it dont lead to a suspension just a talk with him is a good start.

The NHL needs to change these things
To chime in a bit on "growing the game" I think hockey's #1 obstacle is not Bettman - hear me out - but the barrier to entry for playing it. Sports like soccer and basketball that require a ball and a hoop are cheaper, but also much easier to play. If kids can't play the sport at home, they are not going to be as interested in it. Just my two cents.

My take for the offseason
Trade by trade:
Anderson is not worth a first, if he ever was, he's not anymore. Just based on what I understand about Hughes' style of trading players in and out, Anderson will get dealt 2-3 years from now, when we can retain half of his contract and not have that take up a retention slot for a quarter to half a decade, and that's if he can bounce back from this year and put up some points going forward.
Ylonen trade is fine in my opinion, unfortunately his days in Montreal are numbered. He haven't panned out the way you'd hope for a second round pick, moving him to another club makes a lot of sense.
Harris however is kinda the opposite of Ylonen, where he has panned out and established himself in the NHL, but his time in Montreal is coming to an end because we're too stacked at LHD, not because he's not performing well. He was a third round pick to begin with, he's worth a late second by himself, no extra pick necessary.
Barron still has time, and it's a little unfair to Harris to say that, but it is what it is. Montreal's depth at RHD is still so bad even after drafting Reinbacher that we actively can not afford to be shipping out RHD prospects. Just the trade by itself I think the value is fine, Jets fans probably disagree, but I don't see a world where Montreal trades Barron, unless they plan on drafting another RHD at 4-10 this year... Please dear god do not draft another D at 4-10 this year.

Excessive and reckless offense that they can get away with because playoff McDavid, Draisaitl, and maybe Bouchard are insane.
I can’t remember who, but a broadcaster gave them that term a few years ago and it stuck with me. Maybe a spittin chiclets guy, idk. They are not shy with the puck. It backfires sometimes. It’s a pure high octane spectacle and risk.
