Calgary - Edmonton - Boston Mega Blockbuster Trade
This massive trade returns Boston into major contenders for the Stanley Cup acquiring Hanifin, Weegar, RNH, Elias Lindholm, Kadri and Markstrom as retool to the post Bergeron and Krecji era. Lindholm centering Marchand and Pasternak returns Boston to having one of the best top lines in the league. A defensive crop of Hanifin, Weegar to bolster McAvoy and Carlo in the backend while put Swayman as the starter ensures Boston to contend for awhile.
Edmonton got out of the Nurse contract and receives Huberdeau, Zacha, Grzelcyk and Ulmark fixes problems such as secondary scoring and most of all stabilize the goal position. By making Calgary absorb 15% of Huberdeau's contract the price is a 1st Round pick. That's better than trading Halloway, Broberg or any of their prospects from their depleted pool.
Calgary in the meantime brought themselves in the mess due to desperation. This is acceptance that they will rebuild accordingly, to guide the rebuild will include Jake DeBrusk, Darnell Nurse, Charlie Coyle, Hamphus Lindholm and Warren Foegele. The fact that they receive a first rounder from Edmonton and a second rounder from Boston albiet 2026 is good enough price.

Battle of Alberta Trade - Calgary goes on a rebuild while Edmonton shakes up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Augustus</b></div><div>Will start and finish with, that is way, way, way, way too much retention for Calgary to swallow.</div></div>
Unfortunately they signed these players who are on a decline for too much money than they are worth. They were desperate then and put themselves in such terrible position. Now they are regretting all this having buyer's remorse. It is either they continue to be bad with no hope of immediate rebuild or they just accept the loss and move on. This is the best case instead of a more expensive buyout and dealing with disgruntled locker room. Weegar, Hubreadeau, Kadri and Markstrom are all on a decline. They are not the same players anymore. They have minimal value and you can even tell in fantasy hockey that these players are all being dumped in the waiver wire. It is not a guarantee that Edmonton wins this trade as they maybe tagged with continuing decline of these players. For Calgary the silver lining is Halloway and Broberg while being off with the mess that they are in.

In this trade there are no picks are sent to the Flames as the players coming from Calgary are either on a decline or in Hanifin's case only have this season prior to free agency. Calgary in the meanwhile receive recently graduated prospects Dylan Halloway and Philip Broberg which are key assets good enough for such trade. With Elias Lindholm for sure leaving as well, RNH comes in as an insurance to play center. For Edmonton, this is a trade to see if they can salvage their season while resurrect these declining players careers. Playing with McDavid and Draisitl will help for sure. Their window of winning the championship is not long, Edmonton must sacrifice trading their prospects to get the chance to win now.

These are from the rumor mill. Dubois for Montreal's #5 and DeBrincat was similar haul as last year which is a 1st and 2 seconds. There are other deals as well that changed the context here. Ottawa not wanting picks while rebuilding Philadelphia after a trade with Toronto trades Nylander for the pick haul from Detroit.

Ducks need a Goalie. Hrabal, it is doubtful he will be available at 59 / 60. I see Columbus will pounce on him on the next pick, so for the Ducks I have them pick Hrabal to ensure he did not end up in Columbus. We all know Gibson is not the long term solution there. Hrabal is one of the best net minding prospect in the draft. Stramel is perfect at 65 overall to compensate on missing out on forward or defense talent by picking a quality goaltender.

Take out both firsts and lysell - still a no from boston, given that making this deal would mean losing pastrnak.</div></div>
It is retained 30%, Miller cost only $3 Million plus in cap hit. What not to like with that? Pastrnak will resign with the Bruins while they get a second line center that will replace Krecji next season. The retention continues into the new contract. Canucks while rebuilding in the next five seasons will be on the hook for 30% of his salary.

I am in a team deep and highly active league since 2011 and have never won this league ever. The highest finished I have accomplished since 2011 has been second place which I have achieved multiple times. I never usually drafted well for circumstance most oftentimes what kills me is goal tending which somehow the auto draft ends me picking goalies on the latter rounds. This year however I think I am quite lucky with the goal tending but the wings that is something else. I have adopted the sell high buy low ideology and after a month and a half of hard work you can see how my team has evolved since. Not all the trades have paid off yet but I am looking things on the long term, so lets see how they pan out by the end after all I am a gambling man.
I am intrigued with hockey fans feedback, so looking forward to your replies here. Open to tell me what you think I should do to improved my team.
The league settings are as follows:
Roster Positions: C, C, C, C, LW, LW, LW, LW, RW, RW, RW, RW, D, D, D, D, D, D, G, G, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, IR+, IR+, IR+

Trade and Waiver Transactions since:
Waiver 1:
Drop Jamie Drysdale
Claim Gabriel Vilardi
Trade 1: 1 for 1
Gabriel Vilardi for Brandon Montour
Waiver 2:
Moved Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy and Kris Letang (temporary injury during that time) to IR
Drop Oliver Kylington, Blake Coleman, Alexis Lafreniere and Matt Dumba
Claimed eventually Martin Necas, Matthew Barzal, Jeff Skinner, Thomas Tatar, Vince Dunn, Robert Thomas and Noah Hanifin
Trade 2: 10 for 5
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Matthew Barzal, Martin Necas, Jeff Skinner, Thomas Tatar, Vince Dunn, Noah Hanifin, Andrew Magiapane, Matty Beniers and Mason Marchment for Kevin Fiala, Jordan Kyrou, Mikhail Sergachev, MacKenzie Weegar and Seth Jarvis
Note: This trade was made as the opposing team was battling injuries, he moved 3 players on the IR and only drop two being Brock Boeser and Nicholas Roy. Since then so far only Andrew Magiapane has been waived by the other team. This trade has paid off in spades for the opposing team as RNH, Skinner, Barzal and Necas has delivered points for him. Overall I believe I gave up a lot for players who are struggling but it is a worthy gamble. Kyrou is now showing that he is picking up his pace now while Sergachev has been a pleasant surprise on my side. Weegar has been a bust but I am hanging on to him and see if he will later turn around or at least provide peripherals.
Waiver 3: 3 open spots
Claimed Matt Duchene, Vitek Vanecek, Rasmus Sandin
Activate Kris Letang, Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy from IR
Move Morgan Reilly and Thomas Chabot to IR
Trade 3: 1 for 1
Matt Duchene for Teuvo Teravainen
Move Teravainen to IR
Activate Thomas Chabot
Note: Just happened, timing was great as Chabot is now off the IR and need to free a spot without dropping anyone.
Trade 4: 1 for 1
Carter Verhaeghe for Jonathan Huberdeau
Note: This just occurred. A big gamble because Verhaeghe has been really performing but I am betting while his stock is high why not sell him for someone who has such a low stock right now.

A perfect fair deal that is win win to all. St. Louis will now be a legit contender with Karlsson running the powerplay 1 while Minnesota gets their center and a number 1 powerplay quarterback in Krug. San Jose however needs to absorb salary to work hence gets two number 1 picks, Perunovich, Dumba and Jost.

Montreal Rebuild vs NY Rangers Win Now
The Rangers are not a team that can build and develop players. The team have Artemi Panarin and is in a win now mode. Why not just build around Panarin, Kreider, Fox and Zibanejad all the way?
The Rangers got older but much more formidable indeed.
Forwards:
Panarin - Zibanejad - Toffoli
Kreider - Dvorak - Goodrow
Blais - Strome - Gauthier
Hunt - Chytil - Reaves
Defense
Fox - Lindgren
Petry - Miller
Lundkvist - Nemeth
Goalie
Price - Georgiev - Montembeault
Montreal
Forwards:
Lafreniere - Suzuki - Caufield
Hoffman - Drouin - Anderson
Kakko - Evans - Gallagher
Lehkhonen - Poehling - Armia
Defense:
Trouba - Chariot
Savard - Romanov
Wideman - Kulak
Goalie:
Shesterkin - Allen - Primeau

Boeser - Laine Canucks-Jets Win-Win Blockbuster -update
Unfortunately it is Laine that is disgruntled with Jets management somehow and hence the breakup is inevitable. It is getting something that is equal value while keeping Winnipeg off the rebuild mode. Connor is amazing player, I wouldn't trade Connor as he wants to stay in Winnipeg. If Laine wants to leave, you have to let him leave, but you must get something of equal value. All I have seen so far from other proposals the value returning to Winnipeg results to rebuilding the Jets. Lots of draft picks but no equal talent coming back. So far nothing good for Winnipeg. This deal however requires no draft pick because the Jets get an equally talented Brock Boeser who would like to be in Jets uniform and stay there because Winnipeg is just not far from his home state of Minnesota.
You must keep players that want to stay and trade players who want to leave. Just like in relationships, you cannot force a girl to be with you if they are not into you anymore. Life goes on, only pick people who would enjoy working for your company or girl who enjoys your company. ;)

Boeser - Laine Canucks-Jets Win-Win Blockbuster -update
This trade is a massive win-win for both teams who have stars on trade speculation. This is a swap of two stars for each other in a deal that benefits both clubs and players.
Analysis for clubs:
Winnipeg - through this deal not only solve trading their disgruntled star winger and got back an equally talented star winger (that means they do not have to go to a rebuild if traded to other teams) thereby keeping the strength of their two lines intact, they also got some breathing room in the salary cap front while adding in much needed defensive prospects in their depleted blueline.
Vancouver - this trade not only resolve the loss of Toffoli through acquiring Roslovic but actually getting a real deal goal scoring winger in Laine to play alongside with Pettersson.
All of these players get a much needed change of scenery. Laine wants to play with a strong center, in Vancouver he gets to be slotted with Pettersson or Horvat, two strong star caliber centers (Pettersson being elite) in the league. Boeser gets closer to home as Winnipeg is only short distance bus ride to Minnesota. While in Winnipeg he gets to pay with top notch line mates on top 6 from Sheifele, Wheeler, Connor, Ehlers and Statsny.
Here are the projected lines after the trade:
Van:
L1 Miller - Pettersson - Laine
L2 Pearson - Horvat - Roslovic
L3 Roussel - Gaudette - Sutter
L4 Motte - Beagle - Eriksson
D1 Hughes - Schmidt
D2 Edler - Myers
D3 Benn - Rafferty / Niku
G1 - Holtby
G2 - Demko
Win:
L1 Connor - Scheifele - Wheeler
L2 Ehlers - Statsny - Boeser
L3 Copp - Lowry - Virtanen
L4 Perrault - Thompson - Appleton
D1 Morrissey - DeMelo
D2 Forbort - Pionk
D3 Beaulieu - Poolman
(Joulevi on reserves and Woo on the minors)
G1 - Hellebuyck
G2 - Broissoit

Blockbuster Calgary Buffalo deal Eichel-Gaudreau
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>Remove Eichel and put in Skinner and it's close.</div></div>
Skinner with his performance and cap value, Calgary will not swap Gaudreau and Monahan for him. Skinner's value is a bag of pucks, any trade Buffalo does requires an enticement (first round pick) to move him. This will be similar to the Leaf's situation with Marleau last season. So far Ottawa or Detroit would be open to take his salary in a cap dump trade if the Sabres are willing to give away a number one pick along with it. In this type of deal there are no return to the other side.
Gaudreau and Monahan are stars in their own right, so Eichel and another player is the equivalent swap.

Edm - Tor - Pit Trade updated
Thanks for all the feedback.
Here are my projected lineups for all the teams involved.
Toronto
Leafs additional transaction: Leafs send Travis Dermott, Jeremy Bracco and Alex Kerfoot to Anahiem for Josh Manson, signs Joe Thornton for minimum as free agent.
LW C RW
L1 = Hymann, Matthews, Nylander
L2 = Robertson, Tavares, Marner
L3 = Mikheyev, Thornton, Kassian
L4 = Engvall, Spezza, Aberg
B = Petan, Maglin, Korshkov
D1 = Rielly, Muzzin
D2 = Manson, Sandin
D3 = Liljegren, Larsson
B = Benning, Holl, Rosen
G1 = Murray
G2 = Campbell
Edmonton
Additional trade Puljujarvi to Winnipeg for Roslovic
L1 = Athanasiou, McDavid, Johnsson
L2 = Nugent-Hopkins, Draisaitl, Yamamoto
L3 = Neal, Roslovic, Archibald
L4 = Sheehan, Khaira, Chiasson
B = Haas, Ennis, Benson, Nygard
D1 = Nurse, Bear
D2 = Klefbom, Broberg
D3 = Jones, Bouchard
B = Johnson, Green
G1 = Andersen
G2 = Koskinen
Pittsburgh
Would be nice if they could add another blueliner in the free agency without breaking the bank but cap is just tight. But sometimes its addition by subtraction, with Johnson gone the defense may just improve. If there are just takers for Bjugstad and his salary the Pens should really be all ears on this.
L1 = Guentzel, Crosby, Kapanen
L2 = Zucker, Malkin, Rust
L3 = Sheary, Bjugstad, Hornqvist
L4 = Aston-Reese, McCann, Tanev
B = Lafferty, Simon, Rodrigues, Blueger
D1 = Dumoulin, Letang
D2 = Pettersson Marino
D3 = Russell, Schultz
B = Marincin, Riikola, Trotman
G1 = Jarry
G2 = DeSmith
Its a win for all three teams, each of them got stronger and deeper.

Edm-Tor-Pit Three way Fantasy Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Yojimbo</b></div><div>The point of moving Johnson would be for Pittsburgh to dump a bad contract. You then give then Russell and Kerfoot. You top it off with a 6/7D and a very good AHLer.
Literally 0-for-4 and that return for Pittsburgh. Flip Kerfoot to Kapanen to start. Both for increased value and Pittsburgh would want a RW much more than a LW.
Actually, just that move alone makes this an open discussion for Pittsburgh. A forward that could actually help as opposed to just stuff.</div></div>

Thanks YoJimbo for your idea. I have updated the trade and here it is. <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/351341?post_id=1642795">https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/351341?post_id=1642795</a>

Edm-Tor-Pit Three way Fantasy Trade
This trade is based on trade rumors from Nick Kypreos that links Toronto trading for Matt Murray. It didn't make sense if they send Freddy Andersen straight up. So I combined with another trade rumor linking Toronto and Edmonton for an Adam Larsson deal for either Andreas Johnsson or Kaspari Kapanen. Edmonton who is in the market for a goalie after their falter in the play-in format, makes sense to take Andersen. The trade however get complicated when you need to tie up all the salary caps and who each team are also interested in dumping.
Toronto gets Larsson (D), Murray (G), Kassian (RW), Benning (D) - receives defensive defense men they needed, a cheaper starting goalie and grit sandpaper bottom six forward in Kassian. Fixes a lot of needs immediately. The Leafs also free up salary in this trade while giving opportunities to young players. I see the Leafs rumor to sign Joe Thornton for the minimum as likely after this trade. Thornton on third line and Spezza on forth line. The Leafs will not be done yet after this. I see Toronto sending Kapanen to Anaheim for Josh Manson thereby making the blueline even stronger.
Edmonton gets Andersen (G), Johnsson (LW/RW), Johnson (D), Marincin (D) - solves their goalie and scoring skilled forward need that can play with McDavid. They get to swap Russel and Johnson who are not fitting with their current teams. This deal opens spots for Broberg and Bouchard to now join the big club while gives Caleb Jones a full time on the top 6 defense line.
Pittsburgh gets Kerfoot (C), Dermott (D), Bracco (RW), Russel (D) - receives a scrappy third line center, a young defense men in Dermott, a skilled prospect forward that can play with Crosby or Malkin in Bracco and another veteran defense in Russel. They were bound to lose a goalie for nothing on the upcoming expansion draft, with this deal, they don't have to fear this anymore as they will protect Jarry who is now officially the starter. Overall, the Penguins got a lot younger in the trade and hope the youth can inject much needed energy in this team for next season.

Boeser and Markstrom to NJ for Hughes Trade which include cap dump on both sides
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>reelkena</b></div><div>This deal gets better if Van talks to Ron Francis before doing it and works out a deal where Seattle gets like Virtanen and Jet Woo or Olli Juolevi or someone to take PK next year. Which is possible.</div></div>
I would say Virtanen and Jet Woo or Virtanen and Kole Lind as Juolevi is now property of New Jersey. This actually may happen if the deal goes through and the proceeding trade tree adds this as an appendix in expansion draft where Seattle picks PK Subban in exchange Vancouver sends Virtanen and Lind or Woo to Seattle for a bag of pucks. Benning corrects his costly mistakes from here but hopefully he doesnt waste his newly found caps space again. To replace the loss of Virtanen, Lind or Woo and Juolevi, the Canucks will take back their 1st round pick in 2020 from New Jersey and draft with their 1st round in 2021 to compensate for all the lost talent. Benning should quit trading picks but may need to acquire picks to compensate for the loss. His mis-signings have ensured the Canucks will have step back. Hopefully after two years with the arrival of Podkolzin and the new picks maturing, they should be deeper.
