The most interesting offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>Give me some intel on Sparks and Rosen...I know nothing about them.
IF I was to consider trading Dumba to Toronto, I want Liljegren coming back. Otherwise, I would go after the Islanders 2 1st round picks this summer for Dumba.
Ryan Murphy is horrible! If the Wild are going to have him play a significant role next year, they are in big trouble. Of course, if you are planning on a complete rebuild...he makes perfect sense.
Oh, and Granlund doesn't play center...hasn't for 2 years.</div></div>
Sparks had a breakout year in the AHL. 24-years-old I believe. Top goaltender in the AHL, on a top team. Probably a 1b at best still, but has NHL potential for sure. Rosen was signed as a UFA out of SEL last year. 2-way defender, didn't make the team out of camp, and its a pretty shallow lineup to crack. He's got top-6 potential, maybe 20-25 points.

Why so many CHL signings?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bflo_Soldier</b></div><div>Most were signed to contracts that start next year. Is there a rule about how early ELC's can be signed for the coming season?</div></div>
I don't think at any time, a team can be committed to more than 50 contracts for a given season.
If Team X has 50 contracts today, but 10 expire at the end of the seaosn, they aren't able to sign more than 10 ELC's beginning next year.

Why so many CHL signings?
Is anyone smarter than me on this topic? Why, now, as in this week, have there been so many CHL signings? Free agents, as well as drafted players. The CHL seasons aren't over yet, and I didn't think there were that many teams that have made changes to the number of contracts that they are currently committed to. What's the deal here?

Year #1: HEADLINE: Bergevin Out! Pierre McGuire... IN ;)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>You're right, they won't. Any team can spend 5.5m better than Petry and also keep Leivo, Neilsen and a pick.
And why would any team hire McQuire? He's really a TV personality now and is years away from doing anything meaningful in the NHL. Do you really want a TV personality running your team? It would be like putting a TV personality in the White House.</div></div>
He's French. It was a joke. I think y'all take this like 8 notches overboard, but its extremely comical to come and see how much everyone's panties are in a knot over the 15 clicks I made in 10 minutes. Might be giving up a bit much for Petry - he's a righty as mentioned above and if you don't think that gets taken into account, you're very mistaken. Take Nielsen out of the trade if it makes you happy.

My friend, thank you for your criticism on my Rangers deadline outlook, here is mine on yours:
1. Deangelo is already a rag doll, he will not fetch Sam Reinhart. He's also young and the Rangers seem to be after that. 4th round picks aren't persuading Jason Botteril. 4/10
2. Quite unlikely the Oilers to trade JP, especially when it brings their cap crunch forward NOW. 2/10
3. Desharnais should probably fetch a 4th - good valuation 10/10
4. Again, Vesey is probably a guy they'll hold on to in trying to get younger. He'll benefit from Nash leaving. Vancouver is already patting themselves nicely on the back for reclaiming Pouliot so unlikely that they give him up as he fits their model right now. 4/10
5. UFA to be Rick Nash will not, I repeat, WILL NOT fetch a 1st and Eeli Tolvanen. Not even if he had 2 more years on his contract. 2/10
6. Pavalec for a 5th is good 9/10
7. Holden for a 3rd and a 6th is good - 10/10
8. Actually really like the McDonagh trade. Considering cap retained, they might even do a little better 10/10
9. Not quite sure Dallas will be willing to give that much for Zucc. The value is accurate but not sure its a fit.

July 1 Predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div>NYI has a good defence, i don't think they need Shattenkirk.</div></div>
Good enough to make JT want to sign for 8 years? I think if the Rangers have a shot, so should the Islanders, and if they want to keep JT, they've got a bit to prove to him. Nick Leddy is great, but they could use another top pairing guy. Pulock could probably be a 4th/5th guy this season and eventually take over in the top 2, but IMO, De Haan or Hickey aren't gluing JT down

July 1 Predictions
Mr. Mark Blinch wrote an article for THN detailing the top 30 NHL free agents this offseason. I'll only do the top 15 for now... Let me hear it
1. Kevin Shattenkirk - New York... Islanders; 7 Years @ 7.75M + NMC
2. Alexander Radulov - (Realistically) Montreal; 4 Years @ 6.5M + NMC. (Cause this is for fun) Minnesota Wild; 5 Years @ 6.25M + NMC
3. TJ Oshie - Boston Bruins; 6 Years @ 6.8M + NMC
4. Ben Bishop (whoops!)
5. Karl Alzner - Ottawa Senators; 5 Years @ 4.75M
6. Martin Hanzal - Anaheim Ducks; 4 Years @ 4.2M
7. Joe Thornton - (Realistically) San Jose Sharks; 3 Years @ 4.25M - (Cause this is for fun) LA Kings, 2 Years @ 5M
8. Justin Williams - (If Radulov doesn't) Montreal; 2 Years @ 3.25M + NMC. (If Radulov does sign with MTL) Dallas Stars; 1 Year @ 3.5M
9. Radim Vrbata - Arizona Coyotes; 2 Years @ 2.7M
10. Patrick Eaves - Philadephia Flyers; 4 Years @ 3.1M
11. Patrick Marleau - Carolina Hurricanes; 2 Years @ 2.1M + NMC
12. Andrei Markov - Montreal; 1 Year @ 3M + NMC
13. Jaromir Jagr - (Realistically) Florida; 1 Year @ 3.3M. (Cause I want to see another travelling Jagr) Nashville Predators; 1 Year @ 3.4M
14. Mike Fisher - You know its a bad free agent class when 14 and 15 have relatively good betting odds of retiring, BUT... Nashville; 1 Year @ 1.4M
15. Brian Elliott - Pittsburgh; 1 Year @ 2M
Alright I stuck my neck out there for fun... let me have it.

whats the deal on Quine? Is he even an NHL credible talent or more a fringe NHLer?</div></div>
I think Quine is a suitable scroring 3rd liner. I think he'd fit the Av's project in the long term on an affordable deal, probably some secondary scoring, and more opportunity than what he gets on the Island. You want to keep Tavares, I think it would be smart to prove to him you're going to help him out. Carolina is probably the only team that would challenge the Islanders for top-4 depth - they've also been rumored to be a trade partner for Duchene but they don't have a superstar that they NEED to make happy.

Trading for Center
I would hope the Oilers would be all over this. That's giving up a lot for a big contract on Nug. For whatever reason the oilers actually do seem to like him a lot though, that being said, I really think this would be overpaying.. Fiala would be overpaying from Nashville's perspective - look at how that guy's turned it on this year.

I disagree, I think there might be a couple of tweaks to be made, but I think they're all quite solid and realistic, not to mention - exactly what Winnipeg needs. However, we've all seen Chevvy work, and its a lot slower than this sadly.

You've done the impossible. We'll see. The expansion might be the only hiccup - I could see a defenseman going, and a 3rd might not deter Vegas from a top 4 guy

Little "meh" with McClemment but I really actually like it overall. Get something for Bozy while he still has term and value, they need to make room for a few more cap friendly youngsters to make their way into the lineup as future support cast, while Bozak might be okay now and for the remainder of his contract, I'd rather get something for him now, and give Kapanen, and Rychel the experience to sign cap friendly deals when Matthews signs for 10M. Tymashov is stuck in the logjam anyways.

2017-18, ie all of these moves are post expansion. I simply indicated that Perrault would be the one lost to expansion in the summer preceding these moves. Probably accurate on Girardi's NMC, who knows though, Winnipeg looks promising in the remaining time on his contract, if they've got a shot he'd be crazy not to. The guy is from Niagra, he's probably used to the shitty weather

I guess the Loov part is out too.. Fair on Leipsic. 1.25 might be too much but I'd like to see him sign for longer than his qualifying offer. I know he's got minimal NHL experience but I don't think there is much doubt that he will have success, whether its in TO, or in a bottom 6 role or what have you. 1.25M might be high for this stage though. 1Mx3 fair?

I'm not sure Mack would drop so far.... definitely hasn't had the offense of a 1st ov in the last couple years but I think the Avs love his overall game. I like the Wennberg jump but I would still take Drouin higher. Looking back it was kind of a disappointing draft in the second half no matter how you look at it.
