blockbuster deal
Let me ask you this question in light of the VAN trade:
As PIT, would you give Crosby to VAN for Gagner, Bachman, Pouliot, Chaput, Virtanen, and Archibald?
That's what the Demko trade is like. Horribly weighted to Pittsburgh's side like an NHL 18 trade.

Jack Johnson requested a trade. Who would you trade for him?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>
Now we know Johnson isn't the money smart. He's bankrupt despite earning 30m in the NHL. .</div></div>
That's unfair - he was screwed over by his own family. Who else are you going to trust if not your parents? Many young people with intense jobs involving travel give a family member power of attorney (eg. military) - no expectation that your parents will take out high interest loans against your future earnings.
As far as the player? Leafs would be the best match, I think, in that he's actually a big upgrade on their 2nd pair. I agree though that CBJ have little motivation to trade him.

Can Pickard Become a Starter in the Future?
I think Pickard can become a starter. Not sure if he can, but can. Is he good enough? I think so, but am not sure. He needs to just work harder and maybe try harder as well. He was ok and bad last season. But I think he will be a starter or a backup or maybe not.

Where does Florida finish in the overall standings this year?
It really is a shame. This team was loaded with potential after they won the division in 2016, and they had so much young talent to build around. Now there is so much turnover throughout the entire organization to the point where it might be best to completely wipe the slate clean from top to bottom. New owners, new management, etc. They are going to ruin their young players that they waited so long to get.
Pack up, move to Quebec, and start over. Keep Ekblad and Barkov sheltered as much as possible. This is ridiculous already

Why is everyone suggesting Will Butcher to Pittsburgh?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DragonRaptorHybrid</b></div><div>it's not so much "the Penguins' defense is bad" so much as "the Penguins have this habit of picking in the bottom of the 1st round all the time, and talent drops off in an exponential-like manner through the first round, so signing free agents out of the NCAA makes up for the talent that they can't get through the draft (without having to trade up)." now, signing NCAA free agents that did exceptionally well in college doesn't always pan out (see: Brian Gibbons). but some NCAA free agents do work out (see: Conor Sheary), and, relative to other methods of acquiring players (trades, the mythical offer sheet, your draft choices, etc.), it has relatively low-to-zero risk.
the Penguins also have a history of signing NCAA players; this year's Penguins had the single largest group of NCAA alumni to ever win a Stanley Cup.
put two and two together, and you get why the Penguins would have an interest in signing NCAA free agents like Butcher (and also the track record to show that they can turn straw into gold). (EDIT: here's a write-up of the effects that NCAA players have had on the Penguins in these past couple of years: <a href="https://www.pensburgh.com/2017/6/20/15823824/nhl-penguins-college-hockey-ncaa-stanley-cup-champions" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">https://www.pensburgh.com/2017/6/20/15823824/nhl-penguins-college-hockey-ncaa-stanley-cup-champions</a>)</div></div>
yeah, but after 2 cups do they need another?</div></div>
...are you presuming that these NHL players are elementary schoolers? "okay, Sidney, you've had your 2 cups in a row, it's time to let someone else have all the fun. remember, sharing is caring!"
did I miss a clause in the CBA that puts a limit on the number of Cups a team can win? this is sports. this is the real world. losers whine about their best, and winners go home and get frisky with the prom queen.

Worst prospect group
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mtdavis311</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>phillyjabroni</b></div><div>
All those guys but Matt Murray are bottom-six/top-nine forwards. They aren't anything special. Nick Cousins, Oskar Lindberg, etc. are all either equally as good or better, with Guentzel being one that can be debated on <em>"product of system"</em> status.
Tristian Jarry is a good prospect, Sprong failed to make the roster on a weak forward group (outside of the core). They are not the worst, but they don't have anyone that particularly is someone you write home about.</div></div>
I'll give you Sheary or Rust, but having watched Guenztel all season, I think he has what it takes to be a top 6 forward. Easily the Pens best prospect, if he can still be considered that.</div></div>
I apologize for my wording with Guenztel. I agree that he has what it takes to be a top-six forward. I meant that in my original post, but in hindsight, that statement was cloudy and not as vivid as I would have preferred it to be.

Players Who Should've Won the Conn Smythe over 87
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>
He didn't generate any offense against the Caps though! He scored 2 goals in Game 1, but he only touched the puck on those plays when he shot it. And the assists he got weren't assists where he actually had to make a difficult play. The Kunitz goal he literally passed the puck 20 feet, if that. Any professional hockey player should be able to make that play. I'm not giving him praise for making the easy plays. Especially in the Washington series, he made the easy plays and people act like he's a god. Malkin was the dominating force, not Crosby. If you can't see that, I'd bet your one of those Canadians that thinks Crosby is the "golden child"</div></div>
Honestly, I'm so sick of your bias hatred for Crosby. You don't like him because he's on a team you don't like. The fact that you think he's not the best in the world. or should not get the Conn Smythe is ludicrous. Crosby played well, and I trust the NHL personal who are pros with this kind of stuff, in giving him the trophy. All your arguments are rooted in sour bias towards him because he keeps beating your Capitals, and your team USA. He's great, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Does this actually work out reasonably
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mtdavis311</b></div><div>I think you've got Sheary's and Dumoulin's contract backwards. Sheary is having a career year and is proving he's a top 6 F. Dumo is struggling and regressing from his stellar playoff last year.
I see Dumo getting more in the 2.5-3 range and Sheary getting 3.5-4 with term.
That said, trading for both Duchene and signing Shatty doesn't work. Sure, you're under cap for now, but you're also carrying 7 forwards on ELCs or under $1 mill. 5 of those would expire next year, and a lot of them would be getting a raise... Cap doesn't really work with two additional 6+ mill hits in Duchene/Shatty</div></div>
Youre completely right about cap not working at all. Hence the description haha. But again it was just a roster for poops and laughs to see if it was possible.....and by this it is possible just not smart at all.
