Tell McDavid that. I get everyone loves their own young guys, but McLeod has 9 goals in 49 games. If you're going for it, you don't let McLeod get in your way.

People forget Giroux said he wanted to go to Florida and turned down other trades which limited his trade value. Plus trade values have increased greatly especially come deadline time. If there is a bidding war who knows how much someone could pay for a player. Plus Guentzel is a proven top player in the season and playoffs which should boost his value a bit.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mk458</b></div><div>The only one I can think of is the Marty St. Louis trade. This would definitely be one of the biggest trade deadline prices to pay ever. But every team is aware that Edmonton has immense pressure to win a cup, and guentzal is a perennial 40 goal scorer (or 40 goal scoring pace).</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Pretty sure he had a full year remaining on his contract when he was traded.</div></div>
Marian Hossa is the closest comparison. 29yo rental, 40 goal scorer at 6MM.
He returned the Pens best prospect (ranked in the top 30 NHL prospects), a 1st, and two middle 6 forwards under 25. Basically 2 1sts +
Guentzel also has better stats than Marty and is ten years younger.

If there is even a tiny chance theyd trade him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smokewiseganja</b></div><div>2 firsts would be a bit much for me for Andersson. He’s good but not a star. The first package does seem fair</div></div>
You need to think about what he's worth then add some more because Calgary doesn't have an immediate or even near future replacement for him and add even more because it's edmonton. Two late 1sts wouldn't get it done, it'd have to start with either a very high 1st or a really good young center or defenseman player/prospect with strong 1st line/1st pair potential.

I don’t see it as a lowball. I actually am happy to see an Oilers fan who thinks that one of the best wingers in the league is actually valuable. Most of your fellow fans have been absolute clowns.

There’s plenty of other guys they’d look to move WAY before they’d consider what you’re thinking
I’m a fellow Sabres fan, & i like your idea
But it’s just not realistic
Minny isn’t trading him

I'd say it's fair-ish value but, NO if the Flames move Andersson to their biggest rivals, might as well just fold the franchise

Avoiding overages next season
Yes it does any cap space left at the end of the season covers overages so right now it would be 3.25m-2.8m=450k that would come off the cap space next year. Ik it can be confusing

Yea, someone else also started a thread in regards to it and I got a great response.
If you look in Forum > NHL > How bonuses are handled in trades, they cover a lot of if.
Looks like we're unfortunately stuck with it, will be interesting to see how we handle moving forward.

But maybe if the Wild retained a bit a team would pick him up at 5 or 6 million</div></div>
Yeah, retaining ~2 million would probably be more realistic, even though you would probably get even less in real life, maybe a 2nd and a 3rd or maybe only a 2nd and a 4th.

Because he doesn't. And Evolving hockey doesn't correct for QoC, zone starts and other critical components - those numbers are useless. You're better off looking at all the raw numbers.

Tom Wilson... well I lied he's the dirtiest scumbag in the league so he's #1
Trouba
Marchand
Evander Kane
Kadri... He was dirty when he was younger I don't know about now... famous clip of Sid calling him a joke, I was watching that game live, he was throwing them high bows
Zegras is just annoying I don't care about him enough to hate him
Binner isn't dirty is he? i respect that Cup run
and legit I believe Pinto was a scapegoat so if you hate on him, gimme the deets of what he did
Gauthier went about that all wrong and I lost all respect for him, even though i clearly don't like the Flyers at all. he's like Zegras, basically irrelevant, but what pretentiousness eh?
So yeah, IDK about 8 legit ones.
But tom wilson... he's the dirtiest guy I've ever seen play BY FAR... and anyone in the Metro who has had to watch him try to hurt people in the playoffs knows this
Lots of people say Perry is dirty, so his reputation proceeds itself
His nickname on hockey reference is The Worm for gahds sakez

I'm pretty sure performance bonus don't transfer over to the new team. Unless the new team has the cap space to absorb the penalty fee in that current year.

That hasn’t been confirmed, and he doesn’t get all of the money, the hawks cut him because they didn’t want a “controversy”. It has never been said he harassed an employee. And if the hawks didn’t screw him the NHLPA wouldn’t have filed grievance, right?</div></div>
What are you talking about? Corey Perry himself has confirmed his inappropriate conduct. He's issued a whole apology statement and everything. It's not a "controversy" because there's no disagreement. He admitted his inappropriate conduct and his need for help of alcohol abuse. If the termination was unwarranted the player would ABSOLUTELY want to get all his money. There wouldn't even be a single millisecond of hesitation. He would have done it. The NHLPA would have already done it. I'm NOT trying to say people don't deserve second chances. I'm NOT trying to say he's evil or any nonsense. I'm saying only the absolute obvious that's been verified. Something went down with him while he was drunk with a female employee that was not reciprocated to the point where the Hawks conducted an internal investigation and terminated his contract. Corry Perry has admitted fault.
I wish him luck on his future and that he gets all the help he needs. Just go get the facts. He didn't AT ALL get screwed over.

You can argue about risk from age or contract length or an overpay, but at the end of the day Ekholm is exactly the type of D the Oilers needed.
Still nothing compared to the east but it's better than "Evander Kane is our deadline add" for sure

The price would be fine if Campbell's contract included a bunch of bonuses in the following years that made his contract buyout proof but that isnt the case!
<strong>The bonuses are paid by the offseason</strong> and he will be bought out at 1.5M AAV. The Oilers arent paying anything to offload Campbell unless its a Chicago style shortsighted move ala Tyler Johnson where it only costs a 2nd rounder.
