Philadelphia Flyers signed Ivan Fedotov (2 Years / $3,275,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>listen to you.
A team should risk 7 million to find a back up goalie...... The F kind of piss poor management is that?
That's how a GM gets fired. stupid decisions like that.
It be one thing if you were over here talking about, yeah we risked 3.5x2 for a guy who might be a 40 goal scorer or something.
But you over here going on about backup goalie.</div></div>
Look at the flyers history with goalies. We need goalies lmao. It is a legit OVERPAY. it is! But because we aren't signing Carter Hart and Ersson is on a 1.45 mil contract. I am fine with paying him to see if he can be a viable backup. We arent going to be competing for the next 2 years anyway. Might as well find out if he can play in the NHL. Big goalie, has legit potential. Flyers see an upside on the Fedotov, they dont need the cap for 2 years anyway. Roll the dice and see if he can play in the NHL. Its that or leave him in russia and dont find out and save 3.25 mil to do what?
Fedotov was making about 3 mil in the KHL. So it was either pay about the same or leave. Flyers decided to pay

not your money, not my money. Let the guy get his bread. its only for 2 years and we are rebuilding. If he can turn into a capable backup then thats great. The guy has about a career .915 sv% in the KHL, lead his team to win the gagarin trophy, won goalie of the year, helped russia win silver in the olympics.
Nikita Gusev came over from Russia for 4.5 mil for 2 years after leading the KHL in points the season prior. Fedotov came off a year of no hockey, put up fine numbers in the KHL. Got thrown into a mess of the Flyers end of the year struggle. Lets see if he's worth it. If not, then the guy got his bread and the flyers are still rebuilding. If he is good, then we found a possible long term backup or a piece in a trade

Big brain of briere to surround the flyers with some russians when Michkov comes over next season. When they somehow get him a year earlier

Cap going up why not. If thats the cost for him to come over from Russia sure. if he can be a capable backup for like 5 seasons then thats fine. Hopefully he can actually play in the NHL lmao. Guy gets paid. Flyers are still rebuilding. We ball

Briere said it would have to be an overpayment. GMs love players like Laughton. plays with grit and is a leader. put up 30-40 points most of his career. Has 2 years left so isnt a rental. Just put down Buffalo because there was smoke around the TDL. could be another team who knows.

Risto is actually a pretty good #4/#5. Very different than what he was like in buffalo. Just took all the offense out of him and made him decent as a defenseman. Now 3.5 mil. a good contract for what he is playing at right now. Now with us not re-signing hart. Retaining 2.5 mil rather than 1.6 mil. Can be possible

Flyers offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>What are you talking about?!? Frost <strong>AND</strong> Brink together aren't what Alex Tuch was at the time he was traded by Las Vegas. Tuch had 255 NHL games on his resume (including a scoreless 6-game skate-around with Minnesota) and Frost and Brink now have 248; Tuch had 61 goals and 139 points while Frost and Brink have 41 and 116, respectively. (Plus the first was 16th overall.)
Now don't get me wrong -- neither I nor any other Anaheim stalwart contends that the Eichel trade is a comparable for what Zegras should get because Eichel was and is a far superior player. But I think that the alternative deal I've proposed (Brink, Bonk, Philly 2024 first, Anaheim 2025 second) is fair value for Zegras given his age and contract status.</div></div>
Typo, meant to say Frost or Brink isn't what Tuch is. very much agree
I think the deal if it could happen would have to be Frost + instead of Brink +. If its Frost + Bonk + PHI 1st(12-16 range probably now) + 2nd. Would do that.

Flyers offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SomeonesOffended</b></div><div>Leafs might give you a first if risto is half retained but that’s it and I pray we sell instead of spending the first just maybe don’t sell to the leafs for the next little bit we’re just as likely to sell as you guys are but obviously leafs decline this as is</div></div>
I based it off of
https://www.thefourthperiod.com/feb-2024/teams-circling-on-laughton
"Speaking with other teams, the ballpark figure for Ristolainen is in and around $3.5 million; that would require 30% retention on the Flyers’ part. While the Flyers rather not, they are willing to do so, although locking up another retention spot (in addition to Kevin Hayes) long term will come at a cost. Making Ristolainen a $3.5 million defenseman for three-plus seasons is a good deal for an acquiring team, especially with the cap expected to be north of $90 million by 2025-26.
If a team wants Ristolainen at that number, I was told it will take “at least” a first round selection to make the deal worth it for the Flyers. With a deal being so complicated in season, those I’ve spoken with feel it’s unlikely Ristolainen will be moved before the Trade Deadline. Given the contract, a deal in the summer with the increased cap, but it is still something to keep an eye on."

It can certainly be Phillys 1st too. But basing it off an Eichel like trade
1st + 2nd
Then 2 young players. Frost or Brink is what Tuch is. But Frost and Brink are better than Krebs.
Zegras isnt Eichel. so 1st + 2nd + 2 young NHL players. Frost a 2C at best, 3C at worst right now. Brink progressing as well as a rookie right now

You say that, but he would be a rental man, a 1 year deal. He will be asking for 8-9 mil the next contract for a 30 year old. You arent getting a good NHL prospect, a 1st, and a top 6 winger with term left for Miller on a 1 year deal. You need to look at it objectively. Would you trade a 1st, Boeser, and a B- prospect for a 30 year old that will be asking for 8-9 mil for 6/7 years? Who just had a peak season at 29?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ceeque84</b></div><div>How does Laughton get the flyers a 1rst rnd pick++?? now way dude</div></div>
Coming from a flyers fan, he is worth the 1st to a contender because of a couple things
1. 3 mil for 4 more years, ages 28-31 is really good for the price since he is a 30-40 point scorer, 10-15 goals ish
2. He can play all forward position. He is a fine 3C, great 4 C, good 2 LW. He plays on the PK as well
3. He plays with heart and has good leadership qualities
So with the 4 more years on the contract with a proven track record, just like Tampa paid a 1st for Hagel, Goodrow. I can see a world where they pay a 1st for laughton
