The players have to be good to be tradable, that's the only problem. Jury is still out on some of them, but so far in their careers, and this season, they have shown little to merit any contender taking a chance on them. Lorentz probably is tradeable, but he's good enough and young enough to stay on the team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Anaheim declines, too many centers already, takes away playing time from the kids who need it, and they cap space is for taking on bad contracts for picks/prospects.</div></div>
Sorry buddy you’re wrong. Your young centers are going to start on the wing this next year and you have to get to the cap floor to start the season. At this point, all the bad contracts that will move have moved, and they are all LTIR candidate that are going to cap squeezed teams. Bonino isn’t a bad contract considering it is low AAV and is up in a year. The cap space you’ll use to acquire assets will be used at the trade deadline to help contenders acquire a piece via a three way trade. Most teams that are cap squeezed are so because they have already signed the guys they want this season. So they’ll use that guy until they know what they have. Thanks for playing though.

When you read up on him and ask around he actually wasn't a bad pick and while I support the Lambert camp (I was way more Lekki and Kemell and furious we past on them at 11).
But there is a lot of HYPE for Havelid and was not a reach. Lund is okay.
I would have liked one of the Russians at Havelids pick and passed on Lund for Havelid instead.
The Burns trade hurt sentimentally but the big gain is cap freedom for our upcoming rookies/ extensions.
Next; Lindblom was personally my favorite UFA candidate. I did not get my hopes up for him and we should be glad he took a waiver on us (as he signed it, we're lucky).
Yeah it may not work out but he woulda got a chance somewhere, and personally see him as amazing bounce back candidate . This guy was sicked solid in his prime health and he still has flashes of that **** - he was derailed by more then an injury and I think he could find his stride easily.
Overreacting on Eklund and Bords; I can't see their play losing them a spot/ the investment they are. If they play well, if they show hey we're still "IT" at camp; they'll be Sharks.
If Benning outplays Merkley and if Strum outplays Eklund+Bords then what the **** are they doing, lets place them in the AHL and get them in gear? You see what I mean? Breathe I think we're safe here.
Personally I see Gregor - Bords - Kunin on the third and I believe Labanc is gonna be gone.</div></div>
Bords and Eklund arent going to play in the NHL this year given these moves. Bystedt is a bad pick for the place they picked. He would have been available where lund was drafted. the Burns trade for cap space was offset by all the bottom 6 signings. Lindblom is Balcers just more expensive

No team should do that trade, including Arizona or Chicago lol, it's absolutely trash.
16th for murray and 7th, along with murray retention is weaponizing cap space. Too bad murray said no. Love fans think swapping bull poop picks worth throwing the money away.</div></div>
The fact you think that maximizing value in picks while gaining a serviceable nhl defenseman (even tanking teams need those) is something to scoff at tells me all I need to know about how much you know about how this business works and how much of an utter moron you are.
Comparing a goalie that’s substantially overpaid to a defenseman who’s only moderately overpaid, and for less term, thinking you’re the smartest and then assuming I’m a common fan are also signs of your pure stupidity.

Thanks. its pretty spot on considering the QO required if the Sharks want to re-sign him. contract structure is a big part of the reason that it wont be more than this kind of trade. He could take the QO and walk right to FA, so its higher risk for any team, which means lower offers.

Sharks fans are unrealistically critical without looking at contextual factors. Labanc was mis-utilized on a terrible team by a terrible coach in a terrible system. He was given bottom 6 minutes and expected to produce at a top 6 rate. Still he was only producing slightly under top 6 winger in p/60. Improving in any or all of those areas and he’ll recover back up to top 6 production. His pay is what frustrates a lot of people because they don’t understand he actually gets paid what most W with his production get paid.

The whole reason Bob is available is because they need cap space, they would never take $7m back the other way. If you mean getting rid of him to another team I also don't see it. I would expect him to get bought out next summer to finance Timo Meier's new deal.
Which Kahk are you talking about, the Sharks have 2 now? If you mean the goalie, it's possibly an overpay. If it's the forward, you need to overpay a bit on an offer sheet or the Rangers would instantly match. I agree that Vlasic eventually needs to get bought out, but if you can wait a year it's better.</div></div>
The goalie. It’s definitely an overpay 2x2 is more backup level salary.

No need to retain on both goalies. Make Bob’s retain more. That trade is only made if Sharks expect to tank.
Way overpay for Kahk. As much as I like him, he’s still very unproven.

I’m sorry one more. The forecheck they employ has the Center as the F1 90% of the time. As a RW he’s either the F2 or F3 who are literally directed to stay high in the zone and cut off the rim pass or the center outlet pass. Try again with that “doesn’t like to forecheck” junk.

Regarding PP usage and being stationary, that’s literally the Sharks PP system. He’s doing what he’s told inside of the umbrella system they are using.

This is just patently untrue. As in this is all malarkey. There is no NHL player that is lazy. You also don’t take into account his usage from an exceptionally poor coach. I find it bloody hilarious you criticize his defense when last year he was one of the Sharks best defensive forwards up until the point he was sidelined with injury.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FunMustBeAlways</b></div><div>Trades are decent but that offer sheet is just too much to swallow. I’d much rather go after someone in free agency for that price. If we’re gonna throw around money like that, may as well keep our picks. Sharks have drafted very well with 1st rounders in the last 5-6 years.
And pass on tha Zadorov contract.</div></div>
I appreciate your comment. So let me explain in detail. You won’t get a FA with that 30 goal capability for any less money and really probably for anything less than 7 years. It’s a $500k-$1M overpay per year, sure, but that’s the only way you get him. It’s true, the Sharks have drafted well. However outside of Eklund, none of the Sharks prospects are likely to be top 6 caliber. Even Eklund isn’t guaranteed (mostly because of the development issues for the franchise). The argument could be made for trading a player and a pick for Boeser’s rights, but that’s likely to be 2023 first rounder anyway. With these moves, the Sharks are likely to make the playoff, which means the pick is in the 17-23 range, so the player drafted will likely be an nhl player, but not a top 6 goal scoring threat. The FA forwards on the market, that are likely to actually hit the market are 20-25 goal scorers at best, and older. I’m not counting on Burakovsky and Nichushkin both being available or repeating their career performances from a stacked Colorado team at the age where most pro athletes peak. Also, specifically looking for a RW who shoots right. Laine is a possibility but he’s an RFA and going to get $9M+ and the Sharks don’t need that hit. I would take Boeser and his goal scoring, along with the fact he still hasn’t reached his peak, over any of the aforementioned who are likely going to be paid only $1M or so less.
Zadorov made 3.75 this year. The extra .25 is essentially a CA tax penalty.
