Coming off a ~15 point season (worst in his career), he will be 30 next season and was banged up a bit throughout the season. 4x5 is optimistic but not unrealistic but sure lets give him an 8x7.

Objectively the sens are a better team next year with this trade, I don't think that fact can be argued. A buyout of Korpi's contract is unrealistic given the term left and having Celebrini is worthless unless the team has good goaltending. It also is a slightly easier pill to swallow given the sens have Stu, Norris (hopefully) Pinto, and Grieg as C depth. If the deal comes with an extension to Ullmark the sens immediately are in a cup winning window IMO. Also let's not forget that 18 yr olds are never guaranteed to live up to expectations, Celebrini has about the same amount of hype Laffreniere had and look where he is now, good player but i'd give him up for a bonified 1A. I wonder what people would have said if the Oilers traded 1st overall in the Yakupov year for someone like Rask/Fleury, how many cups would they have right now...
I love Chychrun but he doesn't really fit this team based on the fact he can't play the right side like we thought. Geekie is also not just a throw-in player, he is going to put up 40+ points this year, and has good size, at the very least he is and elite 4th liner, great 3rd liner.

Could swap Geekie for Frederic and ideally make it a sign & trade with Ullmark.

Barabanov doesn't have anywhere near that trade value. Plus, he's UFA-to-be, Joseph has 3 years left (and he will prove in the next few months that he's totally worth his cap hit), Brannstrom can be signed to a long term deal as he is still RFA... plus a 1st and a 4th? Damn
The difference between Joseph and Barabanov + 495 000$ of cap space is NOT 1st + Brannstrom + 4th</div></div>
How much trade value do you think Branny has right now?

I feel like on a 1-year we might be able to get him at 1.5M. He can have a prove-it season and cash in next year.

Yes but you can get rid of the full cap if the player has an AAV under 1.15

<em>The amount of salary cap relief provided by assigning a player to the AHL is the league minimum plus the buried threshold.
In 2023-24, the NHL league minimum salary will be $775,000 (CBA (11.12.a) and the buried threshold will be $375,000, which means teams can bury up to $1.15 million in the AHL.</em></div></div>
Interesting - thanks for sharing.
What are your thoughts on the best course of action regarding the Pinto situation? The main names being thrown out there are Branny, Jo and Kubalik and I don't think there are any ideal outcomes but I personally wouldn't mind the notion of trading Forsberg and running Korpisalo/Soogard. Just not sure what type of value Forsberg holds around the league based on the injury concern. Let me know which takes you agree or disagree with most below...
Joseph: The obvious answer based on his cap + where he would slot in the lineup. Would be the worst trade value-wise as you would have to give a sweetener. I do still think he has upside as a player and can't get any worse than he was last year so I think he could be due for a bounce-back year. Do you trust Greig enough to play full-time on the 3rd line and have Joseph on the fourth? If he is still here he would likely be on the fourth line and I think that spot can be filled with one of Sokolov/Jarventie/Smejkal without much of a drop-off.
Brannstrom: Like the player but with our top 4 being set for the next few years he will always be on the bottom pair and I think Kleven a great fit there anyway so wouldn't mind losing him. You could also get some value in return on a trade as opposed to Jo.
Kubalik: I would like to keep him as I think he could put up 20+ playing with Pinto and Greig on the third.
Overall I think Dorion has to bite the bullet and trade Joseph with a sweetener. This team is built to win right now so losing a draft pick should not be a major blocker.

2024 1st round pick (DET) = 2024 1st round pick (DET)
Kubalik, Dominik = Kubalik, Dominik
2025 2nd round pick (OTT) > Sebrango + 4th
Brännström, Erik > nothing
Joseph, Mathieu is a solid defensive forward who is seen as a MAJOR dump on this silly site right now but might not even be overpaid as soon as this season
All that said, Philliy doesn't have to trade TK so they will try to get more from another team. Probably would have to improve the Kubalik piece to win the bid
The nuance is that Joseph takes a 2nd to dump if NO SALARY is coming back. But you're retaining 1.5 on TK which adds value. We don't need that retention
Also, Kelly doesn't have to be included, he can be sent to the AHL without costing anything on the cap
If you keep the retention, change Kubalik for Jarventie and that should be it
Very risky for Ottawa though, absolutely need to extend Konecny</div></div>
One thing to keep in mind when looking at any potential trades for Ottawa right now is that they are in a horrible position when it comes to leverage. Teams obviously know that they have to move someone to get Pinto deal done so it will likely come at an overall premium, whatever the deal ends up being.
Is Kelly not on a 1-way deal right now?

I think they have that killer instinct that Buffalo lacks. They're competitive players, Buffalo is a bit soft imo. I could see Ottawa finishing second in the Atlantic, Tampa can just cruise into 3rd, then Florida takes a wild card, Boston and Buffalo compete in the blood bath for that 8 seed lmao.</div></div>
What more would it take to get this done? Joseph and the 2nd cancel out, Kelly is 0 value, so it's Branny + Kubalik + 1st for TK. Maybe make it 2 firsts instead of first + second?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnonymousSensFan</b></div><div>Yeah, I get that Durzi and Branny cancel each other out. But they don't really. Durzi puts up more points, a natural RD, and is bigger. I get Brannstrom as good advanced stats. But I'm not sure many teams value him at a 2nd.
If you're set on acquiring Durzi though, I would play him with JBD, and leave Kleven in Belleville. JBD needs to play or be traded. He's not going to develop in the press box and I doubt he clears waivers</div></div>
Not necessarily set on acquiring Durzi, just could be an interesting way of making room for Pinto while still improving the current roster. I agree with your Durzi take, I like him more than Branny. Mcbain would also be a lowkey great pick-up, the guy has performed at every level and having a fourth line of all guys at least 6'3 205 is nice.

who says no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AnonymousSensFan</b></div><div>I agree with the poster above that Arizona says no. Value is definitely in their favor. Joseph and Kelly are dumps. The second and Brannstrom might be enough to cover the offloading, but not the players coming back.
I'm also not sure what you're trying to accomplish for the Sens? What's the purpose of trading Brannstrom for Durzi? Durzi is ok, but not really needed. In your above lineup, Sens are carrying 8D, which is a bit excessive. If Kleven is ready, you trade Branny and just use the 1M in cap space savings for Pinto. Or JBD if Sens have given up on him, but no real cap savings there.
Kelly has negative value. Didn't have a good year. If Sens are done with him, better off just to waive him than have to pay to dump him. If he clears, send him to Belleville. No cap hit and you can walk away after this year.
Then there's also Arizona itself. They made it clear when they traded Chychrun that they didn't want to take money back. So, I'd imagine ownership may have lost its appetite to be a trade partner for bad contracts, meaning that even with a proper amount of draft pick compensation, they probably refuse to take on Joseph's contract.</div></div>
The way I look at it in terms of trade value is Branny/Durzi basically cancel out (Branny might have slightly more trade value). Joseph and Kelly both have negative value so stack that negative value on the 2nd round pick and call it a 5th round pick value-wise - so you're basically getting Mcbain for a 5th (stack on some of Brannys excess value over Durzi too).
As for team fit, Ottawa upgrades their fourth line by replacing Kelly with Mcbain. The bottom pair for Ottawa is now Kleven-Durzi instead of Branny-Hamonic, which I kind of like better. Arizona has a lot of guys ready to take the next step so they can afford to lose a guy like Mcbain. They get to take a flyer on Joseph potentially being a useful player and they have tons of cap space for him. Overall sens get better today and Arizona still gets to have a promising young D plus another high pick.
Perhaps you exchange Kelly for JBD to make it a little more even.

1. 8M AAV is definitely optimistic but he could go for it so he can get 8 years, only the team holding his RFA rights can give him 8 years if I am not mistaken. Pinto's contract depends on how he finishes the year, but probably pacing for higher than 2M which makes things complicated
2. Ottawa boy
3. Put him on the right side then and have Kleven-JBD third pair
